The design of your blog is the face of what you do.
Design is the dress on that beautiful lady and the impression she gives because she is wearing such a beauty!
Do you want your visitors to be impressed that way?
I made sure Internet Dreams has a design that is worth your impression!
But it takes work to impress them with a nice blog design.
But I am not talking about the blog’s homepage only.
There strategic places on the blog that need your improvement.
Places where you make think it doesn’t make a difference.
But they really do make the difference for that hesitant visitor debating whether to follow you.
If you want to get more followers, then these places have to be top-notch!
The Logo
Brand awareness has always contained the logo as a staple of this concept.
The logo is what the users of the internet will need to use to identify who you are.
If your logo is just like the next person’s, your blog can’t grow to your full potential.
No matter the size of your blog, the logo needs to be designed uniquely.
I made sure from the start that the logo for Internet Dreams be the best apart of the blog.
It really is!
It needs to be unique in design and something beautiful!
This area on your blog is one of those places that need to be beautiful.
The Optin Box for Emails
If you are looking to gain more followers, your design of your optin box has to be eye-catching.
Just like the logo, this needs to be designed beautifully in order to get those emails.
If your design is a pitiful, dry little box for your email catcher, then I have some bad news for you!
And you know what that means.
Time to upgrade and get a new box for the emails!
The About Page
An often over looked area of any blog is the about page.
The about page cannot be neglected such as the homepage isn’t.
A well designed and created about page tells me a whole lots!
It tells me that you care how your blog looks, no matter what page it is.
I made sure my about page was designed to the best of my ability.
Face it, many new visitors when they come visit your blog for the first time, will probably take a peek at your about page.
Impress them with a beautiful page!
Social Media Profiles
Even though it is not directly on your blog, never neglect the look of your social media profiles.
Bring some of your love onto your profile on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+!
Many people won’t land on your blog directly.
They might land right one of your social media profile and find out about you there!
Maybe land on your Facebook page and give you a like?
Many times that is the case.
Give them a nice impression with some design you create on there.
Show them love!

Agree. Design matters since people usually look at the appearance before looking at the value. Design will make a lasting impression and in fact I believe that it contributes to the so called “branding” of a product/company/website.

You are absolutely correct with your ideas of design on these pages and items. (especially the email form). Although form should match function, the form will add to the over all ability of the site to capture and retain your readers. Many schools of thought on the design side of things, color, layout, white space etc. Over all I would have to say the areas you identified are spot on.

Samuel I have Kind of Another Opinion but it’s not Contradictory.
I personally think that Whole Blog’s design matters instead of Places in the Blog, especially the whole Home Page should be attractive and Blotless where one should not be able to Point any Mistake. Well nothing is Perfect but making it as perfect as Possible will not give any chance to complain.

I actually would encourage the blogger to take action based on what you said.
The “whole” unit of design has to be first beautiful and then these 4 places become an option to increase its eye catchiness on the blog.
If your whole blog theme design sucks, then you can forget about making these 4 places on your blog a better design.

I think I would like to add that one of the most important aspects of design these days is having space, too many websites try and fit too much into a small space, to try and deal with supporting multiple device widths instead of doing it the correct way and having a fluid design that uses CSS to re-image the site depending on the devices. It’s difficult to do but certainly worth the effort. My current site still needs an upgrade to it, but I’ve almost finished, hope to get the fluid design finished in the next week or so.

I always think less is more with blogs, you can cram the sidebar so full of widgets that they end up getting lost! A clean design will make you call to action pop out on your site where a cluttered design will not convert as well.

Hmm, you’ve given me a few things to think about. Completely agree about the importance about design being a key part of your brand identity. After reading your post, I’m now thinking about the need to develop a blog logo. I have a logo for my consulting business that’s unrelated to my blog.
