Do you often find yourself feeling insecure and, because of that, unable to deal with certain types of everyday problems?  If the answer is yes, you should definitely do something about it.

Lack of confidence can become a real big problem if you keep your eyes closed in front of it for a long time. If you feel unattractive for some reason, or incompetent – trust me, it is all in your head – the lack of confidence makes you feel this way. This may happen for various reasons: maybe you had busy parents that didn’t provide you with enough tenderness when you were a child, or you were bullied at school, which in a way traumatized you for the rest of your life, or maybe you were heart broken by your high school sweetheart, which left an indelible mark on your soul. Whatever the cause for your insecurity, you should try and fight it in order to become the person you truly are. Here are some tips on how to do that.

Work on yourself

The moment a person stops improving him/herself, he or she starts to get old. This is the truth, trust me. Don’t let this happen to you. Read some new books – someone else’s experience may come in handy if you lack your own. It may inspire you and expand your horizons and your vocabulary, which is never in vain.

Spending your free time just watching TV or scrolling down social networks will make you even more unsatisfied. Try spending it on acquiring some new skills or learning a new language.

If you were bullied at school, as I assumed before, take a martial arts course, which will do wonders for your confidence because it is a great form of exercise, which means that you will look a lot better after just a couple of months of practice, and the fact that you can efficiently defend yourself from possible attackers will erase your childhood traumas that made you insecure in the first place. Just please, do not seek vengeance and try to find people who have bullied you after you become a skilled fighter. That won’t do anybody any good.

Start leading a healthier life

Healthy is beautiful, and beautiful is confident, right? Good health is the most important thing in life, because if you are healthy, you can do anything you imagine, and this is not an exaggeration.

People nowadays tend to forget about healthy habits and poison themselves with junk food, sodas, cigarettes, drugs and liquor. First, you need to change your diet if it consists mostly of fast and processed food and instant microwave junk. This is not what you should eat because it contains nothing but fat and sugar, which is not what your body needs.

What it does need is fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, dairy and lean meat. You need to provide your body with nutrients, essential for its proper development, and it will do wonders for your self-confidence – your skin and hair will start to look better and you will have more energy, since your body won’t be hungry for vitamins and minerals.

Physical activities are also important for maintaining your overall health. If you are not a fan of working out, try walking to work, taking the stairs instead of an elevator, etc. Visiting a doctor should not be neglected, no matter how healthy your lifestyle is, because you can never be sure that everything is alright, until you check with a professional.

A doctor and a dentist should be visited at least twice a year for regular check ups, if you want to be stress free, because neglecting some minor health issues and avoiding visiting a doctor can make you anxious, even if you are not totally aware of it, not to mention that you can develop some more serious health issues by being irresponsible, especially when it comes to your teeth because, if nothing else, they are a crucial part of your smile, and a smile is a lightmotive of a confident person.

I hope some of this tips will help you find the person you really are, and make your pursuit for happiness easier.

Totally agreed with your points. If you look at more common lifestyle of any youngster, We’ll find that he/she spend lot of time on social networking sites, and fill him/herself up with junk food. Such lifestyle is behind losing their self confidence. Spend time with your friends, go out see what’s happening in real world, keep learning, and interact with people. This certainly help to gain or increase your self confidence.

  5. I will like to include these two tips
    1. Active Participation: Another tip one can use to build confidence is to make sure he or she always participate actively in whatever his or her group, club, social gathering is doing. This will make them to always put him or her upfront as a leader.

    2. Action: As you have said that reading new books or learning new things everyday can improve self confidence. Yes, I know, but putting what she or he has read into action that will really do the job

Let me ask this question, how can some be overconfidence? Is it okay to be over confidence?

    Hello Ivan,

    Great tips you have here.

I wish to add that money gives the biggest self esteem in the whole wide world…it would therefore not be a bad idea to simply dedicated social media time to earning a side income. In the end, one will naturally be proud of him/her self.

Make the day a great one.

    Always,

I truly agree with your tips especially the one ‘starting with a healthier lifestyle’. I believe that with a healthy lifestyle that has a routine of working out, it makes a person fresher, and stronger physically, which eventually produces a good feeling in the mind. I’ve read a lot of books and habits about successful people and all of them have a similar habit and that is working out routinely, say daily. So, in order to build self confidence, we must build our body physically.

Living a healthier lifestyle is such a key to boosting your self-confidence. I know that if I don’t eat well or exercise often then my mood will plummet and I will feel terrible.

I think it is important to work on yourself. If you don’t believe in improving yourself and loving yourself then why should someone else invest their time in you?
