There is a great deal of useful anti aging information on line on how to look great at any age, improve your health and extend your longevity. Biological age these days is just a number judging by how great many people look and how healthy they are in their 40s, 50s and even 60s and 70s.

However, after being bombarded with countless anti aging tips and products on TV, radio, Internet daily,  it’s really hard to choose the most important and valuable tips that are suitable to you and easy to use on a regular basis.

These 5 powerful and simple anti aging tips will not only make you feel good about yourself, but also make you look radiant and stay healthy for many years to come.

1. Stick with the Healthiest Diets of All

A lot of world’s healthiest people who lived past 100, followed a Mediterranean diet that is rightfully considered to be one of the healthiest and anti aging diets on the planet.

What is a Mediterranean Diet?

Mediterranean Diet is a diet full of fresh seasonal vegetables and fruit, healthy fats and beans, poultry and fish, nuts and olives and, of course, extra virgin olive oil and some great wine.

All those fresh whole foods are full of vitamins, fiber and antioxidants. You won’t find saturated fats, deep fried or processed foods in this healthy Mediterranean Diet.

Mediterranean diet is not just another anti aging diet, it’s a way of living which includes not only delicious every day meals, but also exercise in moderation and wonderful social activities on a regular basis.

No wonder that Mediterranean Diet has so many health benefits like protecting us against heart disease, diabetes, cancer, obesity etc.

On top of that, preparation methods of Mediterranean meals are very simple, inexpensive and don’t require a lot of ingredients.

2. Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle

Saying a healthy lifestyle is essential in order to stay young and healthy is way too boring. But how about adding 10-15 quality years to your life expectancy?

One of the biggest secrets to vitality and longevity is incorporating healthy habits into your everyday life the way that you don’t feel like you are working too hard on it. Try to follow this golden anti aging rule “Everything is good in moderation” in work and food.

To get the best motivation for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, surround yourself with fun and energetic people who engage themselves in healthy activities and healthy eating. Emotional support of your friends and family will do the magic and will help you to be strong and stick with the right healthy choices.

Remember: you are never too old to get in shape. In fact, the older you get, the more important physical activity is to help reduce the risks of illness and injury.

3. Anti Aging Benefits of Sleep

Everyone has different needs for sleep, but on an average adults need to have at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep daily. Consistent lack of sleep can have a tremendous impact on your health, looks, memory, productivity, ability to do your job, drive your car etc.

According to recent studies conducted on people of ages between 50 to 80, there were more death among people sleeping less than 5 hours a day.

And also according to a new research from www.sleepfoundation.org, even your body fat cells need sleep to recover. Failure to get enough sleep can cause all sorts of health problems like headaches, heart blood pressure, weight gain, vision problems, increased risk of cancer and diabetes, heart disease etc.

If you want to look young, feel healthy and energetic and extend your life expectancy, do not underestimate the great anti aging power of sleep!

4. Social Factor

Believe it or not, having a great circle of family, friends and/or co-workers and engaging in a number of social activities with them can dramatically improve the quality of your life thus increase your health benefits.

This is a single most important thing you can do to extend your life expectancy!

5. Minimize Stress and Simplify Your Life

This is one of my favorite anti aging tips. Turn off your phone, pager, computer and make yourself unavailable for everyone.

Find at least 10-15 minutes a day to do something fun and relaxing for yourself like yoga or meditation, taking a power nap or a bubble bath, listening to your favorite music or spending time with your pets.

Forget about work, children and learn how to relax and do absolutely nothing. This is the best thing you can do for yourself: your mind, your body, your spirit and your health.

If you do it daily, it will help you to have more energy throughout the day, reduce stress levels, boost brain function, improve your health and, ultimately, live a longer and happier life!

What are your favorite anti aging tips that you would like to add to this list?

  1. The sleep part is the one I have to work on the most. :/

Probably the most important factor, no one can look and feel good without sleep.

  2. Ever since I started eating clean & cut sugar out of my diet my skin cleared up and looked so much better. That and a good nights rest do it for me.

Food & lifestyle are major factors in aging and this knowledge should be used to your advantage. Great article!

  3. I agree with Sunny Mui – exercise must be emphasized more. We are built to move. Sedentary lifestyles are a major problem. Regular cardio and strength training will reduce all the biofactors that contribute to heart disease and diabetes. Exercise even reduces bad cholesterol so helps manage those diets with a little too much saturated fat – why some athletes “get away” with a lot of fatty meat in their diets.

  4. Proper diet, exercise, getting enough sleep, etc., all play an important role in our overall well-being. They also play a significant role in our sexual well-being. Getting enough sleep has always been a great deal of trouble for me, because it seems no matter how I sleep, I can’t find a position that is comfortable and the type of mattress doesn’t make a difference either. I can sleep better in a recliner than nearly anywhere else, but I don’t think my wife would appreciate me sleeping on a recliner all nith.

  5. Waaw, I am from the middle east, you made me feel good !
You are right about olive oil, we have olive oil in our meals on a daily basis, on breakfast ( ex. humous, you should try it one day!) and also we use it for cooking, instead of butter.
And vegetables are always available in dinner and launch.
One more important thing : our main meal is launch, we only eat snacks on dinner, no high fat foods before sleep.

  7. I totally agree with these anti-aging tips Elena. I believe that what you do to your skin will determine how it will look like for many years to come. And, since good skin must come from within, these tips will help reduce the signs of aging and help people maintain their youthful appearance.

  8. As i m not so old i would recommend these anti aging tips to my neighbourer as she always worried related to aging and would tell her some tips on it. Awesome post keep posting like this.

  10. Elena..true the most important thing is to be healthy from inside as it helps to prevent the aging process…however for those who have already started showing the signs of aging there are many effective ways to reverse the clock like exfoliating, being sexually active, retinoids, and more.

Thank you Elena to introduce me the mediterianian diet.
Unfortunately it contained wine, which is bad for your skin.

  12. Jessi Larson says:

I totally believe in a glass of red wine every night for good health. I walk 60 minutes a day and I sleep until I wake up. I work from home so I don’t have the daily stress of waking up to an alarm clock which has done wonders for me.

  13. Barbara Nichols says:

I have read alot of anti-aging tips and this is the first time I have seen a reference to a Mediterranean Diet. Thanks for sharing something unique! I am going to look into it.

  14. I totally agree with you on these points, especially concerning the Mediterranean Diet and de-stressing and simplifying one’s life. I think that being happy is a great step towards reducing the age of both the mind and the body and your article really addresses things that make our bodies work best and lead to a feeling of well-being, which contributes to happiness. Good Job!

  17. Good tips! I always laugh at my scales – not only do they show my weight but they also give me a ‘physical health’ age…and vary quite wildly depending on what I ate the night before! Especially if I drink too much (I think that’s probably dehydration kicking in).

  19. Thanks for this article Elena! I think you hit the nail on the head when you talk about making healthy eating a lifestyle rather than a diet. Shifting the mindset from restrictive dieting to a positive attitude about own healthy lifestyle is so important.

  20. Mary Johnson says:

I can only agree with these tips, just would like to add as far I know it also is good for your skin if you do not spend too much time in the sun and also smoking is very bad for skin an it will probably show aging signs faster for those people who smoke than those who don’t.

Another thing that I would like to add if talking about sleep (as it is mentioned as one of the tips), then it is also important not to sleep on your face, because that also causes wrinkles.

  21. Oziel Leal says:

I think I just nee to sleep more, everything else seems to be in order, well, maybe reduce the stress a little. Thanks for sharing this info.
