The Law of Attraction isn’t a new thing – people were using its power to improve their lives long before The Secret came out. There’s been a lot of talk about how to successfully visualize the positive outcome, how to use positive affirmations etc, but what many people seem to overlook is the importance of feeling grateful, and yet this simple and beautiful feeling is able to do all the manifesting.

What Does Being Grateful Mean?

Think about it: when are you grateful? You probably don’t feel gratitude for something that you don’t have, or for something that you do have but don’t particularly appreciate, for something you think is bad or not worthy.

Being grateful therefore means that you have something and that you appreciate it.

Now think about it from the perspective of the Law of Attraction: let’s say that you want to manifest a new job – you’re very unhappy with the current one, you’re underpaid, your colleagues suck, the atmosphere is everything but stimulating… So you want a new one, a better one.

You visualize it every day, you know exactly what your new office should be like, your new coworkers have great personal relationships, everyone is doing their job without feeling pressure, you fit there beautifully, your paychecks are significantly larger than what you’re currently earning…

All is great, except for one thing: you don’t really feel that this fantastic new job is on its way to you.

You see, if you truly believed that you’ve set things in motion and that this job is about to manifest, you would be feeling grateful for it – yes, even before you have it in reality.

If your mom told you that she has sent you your Christmas gift, something that you told her you wanted for a long time, if you knew that the gift was in the mail and that you just had to wait until it arrives – how would you feel then? Your mom has never lied to you, and you believe her when she says that she sent it; the mail service has never failed you before either, so there’s no reason to doubt that your gift is coming.

Imagine it for a moment – something that you wanted really bad for a long time is on its way to you, because your mom has acquired it and sent it your way.

I don’t know about you, but I’d be ecstatic and so grateful to my mom!

It’s the same with manifesting: the attitude of gratitude confirms that you believe that the Law of Attraction is delivering what you’ve asked for. It’s one of the most powerful positive feelings that you can attach to your manifesting desire as it says that you both believe that your thoughts have set the Law in motion in your behalf, and appreciate the result of your manifesting efforts.

Without it, you’re sending a message to the Universe that you don’t really trust its power… so why should the Universe bother, if you don’t?

Simple Tips to Start Feeling Grateful Right Now

Gratitude is, luckily, something you can practice. You know about the snowball effect of the Law of Attraction – the better you feel, the more great things you will attract to make you feel even better? This works as a general attitude as well, so the more grateful you feel in your life, the more things to be grateful for you will receive.

To increase the level of gratitude in your life, you can make a simple list of the things in it you appreciate and to stop taking them for granted. Your family, your career, your friends, the mere fact that you’re alive and capable of creating the life you want – you surely have something to feel grateful about.

Make the list and think about each item on it, think about what your life would look without it. Then switch the focus and say to yourself: “I am so grateful that this is in my life as it brings me joy and comfort.”

And… the next time you start to manifest, don’t think: “I would like to change my job.” Instead, think: “I am grateful that this fantastic new yob where I will earn a lot more money and feel great while doing it is on its way to me.”

Try it, there’s nothing to lose and much to gain :)

  1. Hello Thomas,
Gratitude is something every body should know or learn how to do. It never kills one to say thank you to another person, or it never kills to help someone else willingly.
To me, gratitude goes beyond life itself. gratitude is what defines a great man.
Thanks for the for the post and do have a wonderful weekend ahead…

I wasn\’t going to read this because I thought I knew everything about gratitude. But wow! This is one of the most powerful posts on gratitude I’ve ever read. “Gratitude creates abundance. Complaining creates poverty.” Subconsciously I knew it, but NEVER got it until I saw it written so simply.
Really its a grate article . I appreciate.

This was an awesome post! I absolutely agree with the law of attraction and always believe that ‘what you reap is what you sow’. What comes around, comes around and if one has a great karma, great karma will find him or her. Gratitude is such an important aspect of life and I wish more people had more of it …

Very interesting – I used to run groups with young people to help them develop their self esteem. We would hand out “gratitude diaries” where they would record events from their day to day life that they felt grateful for. They’d bring them back each week and we’d look through them. Just this simple self monitoring was the beginning of a change of outlook for them. I really believe in them now,
