Why I Probably Won’t Come Back To Your Blog

I'm an active person looking for nothing more than simple ways of enjoying my life. I do not believe in following the routine procedure of waking up, work/study, eat and sleep. I try to live the life which is hidden somewhere between these words. Currently working hard on my new project Plugins WP which is a hub of WP Plugins! I try to use a part of my brain and write on my blog called "My Blog Is My Money" where I give tips on How To Make Money Blogging. And yes, don't forget to visit my Themes Wordpress - My hub of Wordpress Themes!

In a blog, or wherever, it’s always fun to get repeat customers, isn’t it? Have a look at the picture below – Don’t you want more and more repeat visitors on your blog? I don’t say that we don’t like new visitors, but as the  saying goes – ‘Old is Gold’.

First, let me make it clear that I’m not saying this as Raaj Trambadia. I’m saying this as any random reader of blogs on daily basis. Hence, I’m just saying the truth behind the “My First Time On Your Blog Was My Last Time” statement.

So following are 3 possible reasons that would influence me (a random blog reader, not only Raaj Trambadia) to think twice before visiting your blog again –

Are You Dead?

I ask this question because the latest post that I see on some blog is 20 days old! I mean, I visit that blog on 18th January, and the date of the latest post that I see is 29th December! So did you drink so much on New Year’s Eve that you’re still having a hangover? If so, get sober and write something my friend. I don’t say that your previous posts are useless, but I would love if the author/owner is active. Mostly, if I’m a regular visitor to your blog and I clash with the above mentioned scenario, I would probably give up visiting again in near future because I would definitely think “Aah! Forget it! There won’t be anything new”

Maybe this factor is not SO true but trust me, at some point,it does play its role.

Wait, do you even write on your blog?

This question arises because of the money making advertisements all over the blog. Here’s a summary of what happens when I come across

such annoying blogs. The Brackets () contain my expression at each stage –

1) I see a PopUp, which shows me a Google Ad! (Raised Eyebrow)
2) I then have to find out the latest post between 3 Google Ads, only. (Both eyebrows down)
3) After that hard work, I open an article with a catchy title and find a 300×250 Ad Box in the beginning of the post. Give me an introduction before the ad at least man! (Aah, the same thing again!).

‘Bad’Bye, instead of GoodBye

This is regarding the bloggers who use PopUp On Exit Plugins! Check this out –

Ques – Are You Sure You Want To Navigate Away From This Page?

AnsNo, I closed the tab to check out how the other tab looks like! Because I don’t know how to switch between tabs, you know!

Question – WHY YOU LEAVING? PLEASE STAY, I’LL GIVE YOU $5 DISCOUNT ON MY SECRET OF LIFE PDF.

AnsHey! Your girlfriend told me the secret of your life! Yay! I just saved some bucks! Otherwise, you’re such an important person that everyone has to know about your life!

I’m sure you didn’t take much time to realize the sarcasm of those answers! So the point is that I’m NOT TOTALLY against exit popups. But there has to be some professionalism! And yeah, exit popups only look good if they’re on important pages where the exit popup can show some contact information to the visitor, if required.

Bottomline

  • Design your blog in a way that is preferred by your visitors.
  • Ask for feedback to your friends. Take their suggestions positively.
  • Read the above to see from a reader’s point of view.

The word ‘I’ in this article, in most of the cases, represents ANY RANDOM READER OF A BLOG, not me.
