successful bloggers

When I first started a blogging career, I had no idea that you needed special traits to become a successful blogger. I have a solid business background but blogging and Internet marketing was still a new concept that had not been explored greatly.

Me, being the crazy person that I am, had to analyse the entire blogging atmosphere. This included the personality traits of a successful blogger.

Successful Bloggers Have Passion

People will tell you that you do not need to follow your passion, but I believe otherwise. If you have passion then your work that you do will be successful and enjoying your work is a big part of this.

You might have a passion for:

  • Starting a business from scratch
  • Any challenge you want to conquer
  • Making money online
  • Becoming famous
  • For teaching people
  • Sharing your love for a topic

Of course you might have desperation as your motivation and this can work well also, as long as you do now show that desperation in public.

You can see when a blogger has real passion though, as people will be drawn to it naturally.

Respect for Failure

Failure is just another way of learning for a successful blogger. How can you move forward if you do not try new things and how can you succeed if you have not failed along the way?

There is no doubt that some paths that you choose will become rocky roads. You need to ride this rollercoaster of failures to get to the real success.

Turn your failures in to something positive and the more failures you have, the more successful you will be in the end. Failure is also a sign that you are actually taking action and not sitting back and fearing failure.

Bull at a Gate Mentality

I often hear people say “Oh I have been meaning to do that” or “I have been meaning to try that” or something along those lines. Successful bloggers do not intend to do anything, they just do it!

Every time I hear someone say statements like this they are really saying “I will never really get around to doing that”.

I am definitively a “DOER” and my ears prick up when I hear someone say they are “GUNNA” (Aussie slang) do something.

I take mental notes and wait for the results, although the person has no idea I am doing this.

No Doubts

A successful blogger never really wonders if they will succeed or not. They already know they will succeed and are just travelling the journey to success. On that path they will keep trying new ideas, failing and succeeding, to finally find their calling. This can take days, months, or years.

True bloggers never impose doubtful thoughts on themselves and I guess this also applies to a successful businessperson.

No Excuses

Have you ever heard people say “I do not have the time to do that” or “That did not work for me because”¦” I guess we all hear these types of statements in our everyday life, not just in the blogging world. If you hear yourself saying these things then try to change your habits as it also affects your reputation on the Internet.

Time Management Expert

If you say you haven’t got time then why do you think I have the time? The funny thing is I can find the time to do complete my blogging routine, organize my children, clean the house, feed the family, spend time with the family, go on holidays, and more. It all comes down to time management and balance.

I am not bragging here because it has taken me a long time to get my life balanced but in the beginning I did not realize that this is what I had to do. I used to spend too much time blogging and neglect my family, staying up until all hours, too tired for them when they were around.

The problem was time management. The time I was using blogging was not always time used for action. I wasted time and later in the day I always felt like I had achieved nothing, thus scrambling around at the last minute, trying to get some work done.

Now I stop and think about how I am spending my time and what result I will gain from it. If there are no results then I move on to work that does produce results.

What Other Traits do you Need to Become a Successful Blogger?

Becoming a full time blogger is an amazing experience and is very different from anything that I have ever done. You are out there in the public eye and you will need to be strong and stand your ground. You will also need to trust in yourself and know your subject that you are writing content about. Persevere through the bad times and be confident that you are going to make it.

I know new bloggers have many doubts but these will disappear as you gain more experience.

Do you have any of the traits mentioned above? Which ones are you lacking in?
