How To Rank On Google Page 1

My website in Google’s #5 position in just 3 months!

Anyone can learn how to rank on Google page 1. I am no SEO expert and I don’t have a massive advertising budget. In fact my advertising budget is slim to non existent. So then how did I rank on Google’s page 1 for several of my keywords including the one shown in the example in just three months? I know you can’t wait to hear this!

I am by no means an SEO expert as i have already said. What I am is a web savvy girl who enjoys a good challenge. I would consider myself an SEO hobbyist. I know weird hobby right? But I love it. I love building websites and getting them ranked. I’ve built several websites and gotten them all ranked pretty high. None however as quickly as this. If you visit my site, Wedding Album Cafe, you’ll see my very first post was June 12th. That’s the day my site went live. My official launch to the public isn’t even planned until Sept. 15th and already i’m getting Google love! So then, how did I do it? Alright already I’ll tell you just how to rank in Google’s top 10 positions.

Surely by now you know the two golden rules, build backlinks, ahem “quality” backlinks, build content (ditto on the quality) and i suppose a third build traffic (traffic breeds backlinks). So I won’t bother you with those, perhaps another time. Each website I’ve built I’ve employed different methods and techniques. I’ve tried heavy emphasis on link building or heavy emphasis on optimization and content. Trust me both work well. But this time I decided to focus on a completely different method. Well not completely different as I still employ the methods above. But this time I decided to incorporate a method that I always knew I should be doing but never thought I could fit into my busy schedule.

You see I am a graphic designer, that is how I make my money. So that is where I need to invest most of my time. Even though design is my main focus, I always knew it was essential to reach out to like minded individuals and network, I just never made time for it. I’ve decided to branch out and expand my product line creating the need for a new website. Because the product is completely different than my previous works and caters to a whole new audience I knew that now it will be essential to reach out to others who specialize in my field.

Here is where my latest technique comes in. It’s a simple one. Reach out and network with others. Sometimes reaching out to others can be the hardest part. Especially if you are shy or lacking confidence. If you’ve ever seen Boiler

Room then you are familiar with this phrase, “You can be anyone you want to be when you sell on the phone.”  The exact same thing applies to the internet! Now I am not at all suggesting you become your own alter ego or some made up persona. Be yourself, but be better! If you’ve always wished you were the type to approach the hot girl or hot guy know that on the internet you can be. On the internet no one knows or even cares how shy you are or what you look like. All they care about is what you have to offer. When you do reach out the only thing you need to be certain of is that your website speaks for itself. Make sure that when you do reach out to the hot blog or the hot website that they will want to get to know you.

So In A Nutshell –  Here’s How To Rank On Google Page 1

Or at least here’s how I did it.

The hardest part may be finding the time to incorporate these ideas into your schedule. But your time and effort will pay off.

  • Reach out to industry leaders. Ask to guest for them. If you are anything like me this can be very intimidating. Don’t be intimidated and don’t worry if you have poor page rank or in my case none at all, or no traffic or comments. Just be sure that your website is ready with excellent content so that when they look to see who you are they will be impressed. Not only may you get a backlink out of the deal but you may develop interesting or even lucrative opportunities.
  • Educate yourself. Join awesome blogs, forums and/or communities just like this one. Actually READ what these people are talking about. Yes you want a backlink but if you aren’t taking advantage of this free information then you are only cheating yourself. I have learned so much from knowledgeable bloggers and guest bloggers. I’ve obtained advice that no doubt helped me to land on page 1.
  • Make valuable connections. Put on your Sunday best and make the best impression for yourself. Make sure your website has something of value to offer. Then go out and get noticed. Don’t let negative thinking hold you back from doing this. Once you’ve made a connection provide the most value so that you will be asked back again or even be referred to some of their connections.
  • Work. Hard. Yeah you knew that was coming didn’t you? Dedicate every waking moment (or as much time as you possibly can) to building your blog, networking and educating yourself. No one said it’s easy but that doesn’t mean it has to be hard either. You’ll find amusement and enjoyment along the way as well as meet some very interesting people. But most importantly you will be inching yourself closer to that number one spot on Google.

So there you have it. Advice from an every day girl who loves to take the Google challenge on how to rank on Google page 1. If you have questions, and I’m sure you do, post them below and I’ll do my best to help you out.
