It’s very well, having your blog and spending the time writing that killer new blog post, but isn’t it a little boring when it’s just text and nothing else, isn’t it better to add a little something more to the post, that’s where photos and videos come in to the equation.

There are several benefits of having a photo (graphic) or video in your blog post so lets start with photos/graphics.

Photos/Graphics in your blog posts

For starters, not only does an image look good on your blog post, but it can sometimes be used to bring the subject of the post closer to the reader, if you have an image that is on par with the subject it gives the readers an idea of what the post is going to be about, not only this, but if you want to use graphs or something to describe what you are talking about this also helps with the understanding of your article.

I’ve always found that using a funny picture to break the ice is another great option, like the image I’ve used above in this post, it not only

makes the reader look and think, but hopefully it brings a smile to their face as well while they are reading the post 😉

What you should remember is to make sure that the image you use is not copyrighted, specially if you’ve pulled it from the Internet the same goes for videos.

Videos in your blog posts

Very much like photos, adding a video to your blog posts is a great way of reducing bounce rates, as the reader will spend a little more time on your blog watching the video, hopefully.

If you are someone that is blogging about certain subject and really want to show your readers what you are talking about in video form then adding a video via sites such as YouTube is ideal, I know many bloggers that do a lot of their explaining through online videos and it’s easy to see why these have become so popular recently.

And again as with photos you can add a bit of humour to your posts, an ideal way of doing this is to search YouTube for a the subject you are talking about and then finding a funny video to stick at the end of your post, after all, we all know about the healing power of laughter 😉

Rounding it up

So just remember having a post that is just text is not only boring but it’s not very appealing on the eyes of the reader and by having pictures or videos that either explain what you are talking about or are there just for the sheer fun of it, is so much better.

So then, do you add pictures or videos to your blog posts?
