There are some people who have the ability to make others happier and healthier. They spread laughter, joy, peace, and a sense of positivity everywhere they go. These are the people that you try to hang out with and surround yourself with because your day actually becomes brighter and better with them in it!
Chances are that you would like to be that type of person. Spreading happiness is much better than spreading negativity. It draws more people to you on a personal and business level. It creates happy and long-lasting relationships. It also allows you to go further in life because there are more people around you wiling to help out and give you a boost.
Plus, making others feel good makes you feel good as well, and it allows you to become happier in your life on a constant basis. So how do they do it?
5 Qualities That Health Promoting People Have
They Don’t Hold Others Back in Life But Instead Encourage Them to succeed
You know the co-worker who does everything in their power from helping you find out how to do something correctly? That is not a health promoting person!
A person who wants you to succeed in life, and helps you do so, is someone who is trying to create a better life for you and everyone else around them. There are many examples of this kind of person – the first people that come to my mind are Deepak Chopra, Tony Robbins, and Joe Vitale. Of course those are just 3 of the last people whose books I’ve read. There are many people out there like them, and if you take a page from their book you will find that you will start to become like them as well.
It feels good to enrich people’s lives, and it doesn’t take anything away from your own life. In fact, it only makes you life better!
They See The Good Qualities in Others
So many people out there are quick to find your faults. They point the finger at you and tell you how you should be doing things. They make you feel worse about yourself and can provoke low self-confidence and unhappiness. These are not health promoting people!
Someone who see’s the good qualities in you, and is quick to point those out to you, is someone who is concerned about you and your happiness. This is true in all situations, but it is especially true when pointing out your good qualities could affect their success.
If you think that by pointing out someone else’s good qualities you will hurt yourself and your life, then read the following story.
My husband used to have a boss that just didn’t know as much as he did. He couldn’t keep up with what my husband was talking about when it came to accounting. But do you think he gave my husband credit for that? Nope. Instead he pointed out my husband’s random mistakes and tried to focus on those to bring him down. I guess he thought it would keep my husband from getting his job, but eventually my husbands boss ended up losing his job anywase, while my husband went on to bigger and better things. If he would have just admitted my husband knew what he was talking about and learned from him, then he would have gone on to better and bigger things himself.
They Do Not Have Anything to Prove To You
There are a lot of people who feel that they have to be someone special or important in order to make a good impression on you so they act fake, unkind, or egotistic when they are around you. That is not a sign of a health promoting person!
People who are good for your health do not have anything that they need to prove to you. They do not need to constantly reassure you that they know what they are doing, they do not need to talk about how they also are excellent at something you are good at, and they don’t interrupt you with their own successes when you talk about yourself. They are comfortable with themselves and know their own worth, and they don’t need to bring down yours to make themselves feel better.
They Listen to You and Offer You Real Solutions
Ever talk to someone and feel like you are talking to a brick wall? Or maybe you felt like they were just waiting for you to finish so they could offer you some intelligent advice of their own from their own experiences. These are not health promoting people!
People who care about you, and want the best for you, will really listen and make sure that they understand what you are saying. Then they will offer you advice and potential solutions to make you come out of the conversation headed towards a better you!
They Make YOU Feel Important
There are some people who can make you feel insignificant in life. They can be anyone from a family member, a ‘friend’, a co-worker, a boss, or even just a random stranger. Some people have the power to make you feel like you are less of a person than you really are! These are not health promoting people!
The people who really listen to you, acknowledge you, show interest in you, and express their gratitude and awareness of your uniqueness are the people who really care about your well-being and happiness.
These health and happiness producing people want you to know that you are someone special in this world, and they can see that it’s true. These are the people have no problem pointing out why you make a difference in this world.
So if you want to be a person who makes a positive impact in other people’s lives then start becoming the person who envelops the above 5 traits. Not only will you help others succeed and be happy in their lives, but your life will be enriched in great ways as well.
Do you know any people who make you feel really good, or really bad? What are their prominent attributes? And how do you strive to be more health inducing to other’s each day? Share in the comments below!

These are descriptions that I definitely see when I look in the mirror. I’m always trying to help people and build up their feelings of themselves..
Cant worry about proving anything to anyone because I’m too busy trying to prove myself to myself.
I had a boss kinda like your husbands but the difference was they constantly tried to make me feel like my efforts were not sufficient for the job they wanted done. I was always getting in trouble simple because I did thing efficiently the way they were suppose to be done and they wanted impossible deeds done..
I soon started blogging and real estate investing and said screw them..
It was my old bosses that really showed me how to not treat people.. Especially employees when I get some.. I will do the total opposite and have a successful business..
Great post.. brought back memories of why I’m at where I’m at..

Hey Dennis,
Great insights. Others really teach us who we do, and don’t, want to be doing they. It’s nice to be able to look in the mirror and see someone who is making a positive difference in this world, isn’t it?

Those type of people are few and far between but when you do find someone, make sure you care for them in the same way they do for you because as the old saying goes, ‘you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone!’. There’s a book called the 7 Habits of highly effective people and a section in it talks about the ‘Emotional Bank Account’ which reminds me of this in a way

Hey Louis, I haven’t read that book yet, but I know that this behavior will lead to success. People like you more, you like yourself more, people do things for you, you do things for yourself – feeling good allows you to take action and get on it! I know my husband has read it…I’ll have to ask him about the emotional bank account.

I am a believer of sowing and reaping. What you sow, you definitely will reap. Kinda like the golden rule. And bottomline is respect, because in reality what good will it do you if you constantly pull people down, you’re still not moving up anyway.

So true. Just the other day I ran into a couple who do not respect other people at all – it’s very apparent. They don’t realize how miserable they are…and that making other people miserable is not the answer to feel good about themselves. But until they know better….

When we promote happiness to others (and I think that all of us can be good listeners, and encouraging) we create a healthy environment to live in! Maybe today I ‘ll have the chance to listen to someone’s issues and help him with a piece of advice. Tomorrow maybe I’ ll be the person who needs support!

Some people seem to have a natural talent for uplifting others. Even if you don’t you should practice it. You’ll benefit from it too. It’s the basic Law of Attraction – you get what you put out.

I think a lot of how we achieve and how much we achieve tend to be up to the people we keep around us. Some people can really drag us down and wipe our confidence clean. You’re right in saying that health-promoting people have nothing to prove. They listen to us and make us feel special. This is why it’s so important to keep those people close to us. We can also learn how to become them to someone else in need of a sympathetic ear.

What’s even better is when businesses are health promoters. Someone who takes initiative to answer a question I didn’t even ask, simply for my own education, instead of being quick to answer the question and get off the phone, leaves the best impression in my mind. They really give you the sense that they care about you and your time.
Love to see positive, motivational articles like this!

As you pointed out a true desire to help others is the quality that must be present in anyone that promotes health and happiness in others. I think this quality is or lack of) should be really obvious too.

Naturally we all love to be surrounded by people who make us feel good. There still are many out there who don’t know that, as Angie there said – we have 2 ears and one mouth for reason. Also some need to learn that for sawing what you’ll reap you don’t have to have a veggie garden, just be a kind, mean well person.

Love the reading, and I really like that others are thinking good thoughts and want people to feel good as well. It is very refreshing to know that their is someone out there other than me that loves happiness and want to see others happy too.

What a sensible story.
I always look at it as helping others to achieve greatness simply rubs off on your own situation. There’s never ever been a really successful person who hasn’t made sure those around him/her is successful first.
Whether you call it karma or just common sense, people naturally gravitate to people genuinely interested in them. As a manager, I’ve always handled my business relationships as a family unit – I make it a point to guide, mentor and help my kids achieve greatness, as best as I can.
Being selfless and giving hasn’t always been my mindset but once I gained that ‘Aha’ moment, I was happier as were everyone else around me. I guess that was just my own journey of evolution.
