strawberries

Do you find cleaning strawberries a chore or task? Would you eat more strawberries? Did you know strawberries are healthy? Here are some reasons to eat strawberries:

High in Fiber

Antioxidants

Anti-inflammatory

High in vitamin C

High in vitamin K

Folate and Potassium

Regulate blood sugar

52 calories in 1 cup halved strawberries

Low in Saturated Fat, Cholesterol and Sodium

I have found the easiest way to remove the stems on strawberries is to use a sturdy straw, (like one from McDonalds).

This is a quick an easy way to clean strawberries.

♥ Wash your berries, use a sturdy straw.

♥ Center the straw into the bottom of the berry and push through slowly out the top of the strawberry

♥ If your berry is extra large you will want to re-position the straw and push through to complete the task.

I re-wash the berries after removing the stems to clean off any leaves left behind

♥ Now you are ready to use in your favorite

recipes or to eat just plain, sprinkled with a bit of sugar, dipped in cream or used as a garnish of in smoothies.

  4. Wow, cool post Kargreen!

I love strawberries, we’ve been on a strawberry shortcake kick the last couple of weeks. Whipped up some homemade individual size shortcakes and split them open putting strawberries in between and on top. Then of course the whip cream! It’s funny you posted this during my shortcake obsession….

  10. The only thing that worries me about strawberries is the amount of chemical pesticides and fertilizers used are extremely high in most strawberry farms. Washing it doesnt really get rid of it and regular consumption might cause more harm than good. Nothing beats home grown strawberries.
