What could be a better way to promote your entry and your blog than to go out commenting in other CommentLuv blogs? (Before you do, be sure to read this entire post for important details.)

There are two specific types of CommentLuv blogs that will benefit you more than any others you could comment in.

Start with the blogs of all of the other contestants because they have shown by entering the contest that they are serious about growing their blogs and interacting with other interesting bloggers.

Have you noticed how supportive our contestants are about commenting in and promoting each others’ entry posts? That is because the CommentLuv community recognizes that collaborating benefits us all far more than competing!

Does the thought of interacting with some of the other bloggers scare you? Maybe you think some are too important or so busy that they would not want to hear from you. I assure you that is simply NOT true.

The bloggers with the most comments and Twitter followers got popular because they love to hear from everyone. Simply entering our contest reveals which bloggers really want to learn and grow. If that is you, congratulate yourself and do connect with everyone else!

Here are two short-cuts to finding and connecting with all of the other contestants:

  1. Use the links in the Blog Commenting Folder
  2. Use this TweepML link to follow all of the participants (updated 7/16/10):

CONNECT WITH OTHER BLOGGERS IN YOUR NICHE

There is a second group of bloggers that are perfect for you to connect with besides other contestants: other bloggers in your niche. The very best way to grow your blog is to consistently read and comment in blogs related to your own.

Fortunately for us all, Andy has created a search engine to make it easier to locate blogs by keyword.

CommentLuv Enabled Sites Search Engine (also available on the ComLuv.com home page)

Before you go out commenting, create a post with a compelling title inviting others to read and comment in your entry. Consider including your niche topic in your title or creating another post to use when commenting in blogs in your niche.

You might

also wish to use the image at the top of this post either in your sidebar or in the post you write asking your readers to support your entry or entries. If you do not know how to get the image into your blog drop by the BloggerLuv Community to find many bloggers willing to assist you or contact GrowMap.

There is one final and very important tip for you. Most WordPress blogs use Akismet and many active bloggers have been flagged as spammers. If you are flagged, one of these two things happens to your comments:

  1. Your comments go directly into spam. You can tell that has happened if your comment did not immediately appear and you DO NOT get a message indicating that your comment is being moderated.  In this case, you can ask the blogger to approve your comment using any contact information you can find on their blog or by contacting them on Twitter or elsewhere. You can also try commenting using a different name and URL.
  2. Your comments are immediately deleted. You will know that has happened if you see a blank white page after commenting. You could send your comment to the blogger using their contact form or email address if any. You might also share this post with them explaining why Akismet deletes comments.

Here are some recommendations to make commenting more fruitful:

  1. Look for, read and follow any commenting policies found in each blog.
  2. Always copy your comment BEFORE you hit submit in case you have to paste it back in or send it manually to the blogger.
  3. If you test whether you have been flagged using the information on this Akismet Test post.
  4. When you realize you have been flagged as a spammer, consider adding your details in the Akismet spammers GrowMap is collecting on how many bloggers are affected. That post contains information on how to contact Akismet support about getting unflagged.
  5. If you have difficulty commenting and would like free assistance diagnosing what is happening ask at GrowMap.
  6. Consider these tips on How to Block Spam Without Using Akismet.
