It’s here at long last! The new theme for Comluv. It’s taken a while because I wanted to make sure it all worked with the custom pages for additional urls and other unique Comluv additions but, it’s finally here!
What do you think? is it nicer but still feels like ComLuv ?
Some Unique Pages
This particular theme has had to have quite a few custom plugins and modifications added so that it can handle all the unique pages that ComLuv has. Here’s a breakdown;
- The HomePage
This is the main page you’ll see whenever you come to ComLuv.com
It has the top 3 comment makers, top 3 comment receivers and a whole bunch of brand new sites that have just installed the commentluv plugin. - Top 50 Comment Makers
Rather than just recognize the top 3 comment makers, you can now click to see the top 50.
This page is still brand new but when it matures, there’s a good chance that it’ll get some google juice attributed to it like all the other permanent pages of the site.
All sites listed on this page have dofollow links! - Top 50 Comment Receivers
Just like the top 3 comment makers, you can now click to see the top 50 comment receivers
This page is still brand new but when it matures, there’s a good chance that it’ll get some google juice attributed to it like all the other permanent pages of the site.
All sites listed on this page have dofollow links! - Show All Comments
Not content with just showing you who the top 50 comment makers and receivers are, you can click to see exactly where those comments were made and what last blog posts appear on them!
Only comments that have received some luv and were approved (and not later deleted) by the admin will be shown here.
These links are dynamically created so they’ll only show if a human clicks the ‘see who’ or ‘see where’ buttons. - The Member Page
This is where you need to go to register your profile and main url.
The information that gets shown in your info panel when someone hovers over your last blog post link gets pulled from this page.
If you don’t have anything saved to your profile or a site description then you don’t get included in the top commenters pages or in the custom search engine. - Additional URLs page
This is where you’ll be able to purchase an additional URL for your main account.
It will allow you to receive even more posts to choose from when you comment on CommentLuv enabled sites.
Each additional URL costs just 6 credits per year which goes a little way towards paying for the extra bandwidth and database space needed.
You will also be able to edit your site details here (except your url and feed url) as well as delete any old sites you don’t need any more - Default Links Page
Here you can add static or default links to your returned list of posts when you commentluv on CommentLuv enabled sites.
Each link allows you to specify the anchor text to use and can be from anywhere on your registered sites.
You can delete any links you don’t need.
Each additional link costs just 4 credits per year. - Unban URL page
This is where you come when your feed causes issues with the comluv server 3 times in a row.
You can use this page to unban yourself and as long as your feed is fine, you’ll be able to continue getting the luv when you comment on CommentLuv enabled sites.
Only registered members can unban their URL, this is to prevent bots from destroying all my hard work!
There are some wise words on this page explaining why a URL gets banned. - Buy a featured site purchase page
This is a brand spanking new page! It allows you to use your comluv credits to buy a short term featured site spot.
Each spot is individually priced and there are a few rules to follow, things like only being able to book for a maximum 4 days or only being able to book one slot at a time for one of your registered sites.
Only registered sites will be able to be featured in these spots and each spot is placed on a page that has at least a Google page rank of 4. -
There’s another little gem here too, it’s the home page featured site slot (more about that later)

thanks very much for coming by!
This is very sweet, Andy. That vacation did you good!
I’ve been in the top 3 a few times, shouldn’t be too much trouble to get into the top 50. My audience is very cool.
CommentLuv makes commenting a lot of fun, and I wish Disqus would get on board.

yup the holiday was great, now I need another one! haha
Wow, it looks great, clean and minimal but so many goodies! Very beautifully done.
Thank you all for all your hard work, both one this site and of course with the comment luv plugin.
thanks for coming by and saying so.
Lovely page! Looks compact yet powerful!
More power to ComLuv!
P.S. I’ll be in that top 50 comment makers soon haha!
Very nicely done. I like the clean layout much better – easier to read, find out what’s going on without all the clutter.
thanks! I hoped it would make things a like better for users
Looks great Andy.
I like that you expanded your list of top commenters and top sites to 50
yes, it took some work to be able to do it without killing the server! Glad you like it!
whoa…..ermm..i hope in blogspot,i can put comment luv without instal intense debate..hu3
that would not be possible I’m afraid, blogger do funny things with their comment form which makes it impossible to add commentluv without a 3rd party system. sorry

Wow! I really like the new commenters and sites view. And I gotta say, a MUCH cleaner layout. The only thing is, you squoooshed the ComLuv logo. I’ll get to making one in the new 260×115 size
Otherwise, FanTABoulous job!

thanks! I got the new graphic. I’ll get some time this week to put it in.
The new web theme looks great Andy. And more extra features than you can shake a stick at.
And I’m loving the Global search idea. That will be great.

I love how you put everything together and how it looks so organized and everything just works well together.
I clicked on the first 2 Screen-Shots the one entitled “The HomePage” and the other one with “Top 50 Comment Makers” and saved both images to my hard drive because if you look closer you’ll see my name and Gravatar icon listed in the top 50 and on the homepage haha, was so cool.
Thanks for your hard work Andy

haha, you’re already famous eh? thanks for coming by.
They all look awesome Andy! That’s quite a lot of work but I think it is worth it.
thanks dimaks, hope you get to come back soon
Love the new layout looks great, however, to you find that WordPress is a resource hog for such a large site?
it’s not too bad if you secure it enough, I do have a wonderful UKFast dedicated server though so that helps!

Hi Andy, will you make the custom “Guest Blogger Notify” plugin also available for download? I think it’s very useful plugin.
I may do, it would need some attention to make it a public plugin. Right now, i have hard coded all the guidelines and widget code. I suppose I could clean it up and add some settings pages but honestly, settings pages and validation is the longest boringest part of making a plugin and I already have far too much to do in my life! (supporting it would be intense too!)
maybe if I get around to putting up a premium support type deal for plugins …

I hope you will make it public, because I think it’s definitely functionality you need to run a WordPress based community with guest authors.

Yes, I suppose you are right.
I have lots and lots of plugins that I would like to release but I don’t because the amount of work it takes to support them and update them makes it not worth it.
Maybe if I charged a small fee for the plugin and that enabled you to get free updates and support? what do you think, would the guest poster plugin be worth paying 15$ for free updates for life?
Twitter: Buikspieroefeningen
An other idea could be to offer the plugin for free and make a paid support / update section like Alex King’s wphelpcenter.com. I don’t know if I would pay for the guest post plugin, but that’s maybe because I’ve never used a payed plugin.
great! hope to see you on the top 50 yourself soon!
thanks! and thanks to Hisham as well, he did some cool css and had some good ideas for making it unique to comluv
well, guest posters are going to have a great opportunity to be seen by even more readers and it’ll really help build the community spirit here at comluv. Glad you like it!
buikspiertips: I suppose so but for me I would only really consider going through all the effort of converting the plugin to be publicly available and making updates if I actually got paid for it! If this was my full time job then I wouldn’t mind but I have to squeeze this site and my other plugins in during the off time between 2 jobs and running a business!
thanks for your feedback

You’ve done a great job … a good thing just keeps getting better! And many thanks to Hisham from Famousbloggers from me, too, for giving you a hand.
Wow, must say you’ve done a great work. For some time now I’ve not visited the site. I was one of those that won prizes in the famousblogger.net/comluv.com blogging contest. After the contest I decided to re-work my blog and moved it to a new url. It was my coming here to register the new url that brought me here and was surprised with the new look. I give kudos to your choice. We look forward to greater things.

Wow, Andy! That’s a lot of great features. I didn’t know there was so much here for bloggers. I’ve been using your plugins for quite a while, but haven’t really visited here much. Has anyone done a video walk through of all the site features yet? If so, do you happen to have a link to it? That would be an awesome resource. For now, I’m going to scroll back up and check out some of the features you highlighted. Great work.
