Man Shocked

I'm More Likely To What?

Men are more likely to avoid feeling guilty when saying no than women. Men are more likely to have an easy time opening a jar of pickles than women. These are things that we already know. But then there are some things that men are more likely to do, or get, that may surprise you.

Men Are More Likely To…

Men are More Likely to Be Hit by Lightening!

Males make up a whopping 84% of fatalities from lightening, and 82% of the injuries. What’s the cause? Well it’s either that lightening is attracted to testosterone or that men spend much more time outside during storms with metal than women do! Either way – the important message is that men are more likely to get hit by lightening, so stay inside during a storm!

Men are More Likely to Die of Cancer!

Men – If you haven’t been listening to the health advice you have been getting then this may help you get motivated to do that!

Men have more of a chance of getting, and dying from, cancer according to a study done on various tumors and blood cancers. Colon, pancreas, and liver cancer killed almost 1 ½ to 2 times more men as women in a thirty year period.

While genetics can play a role in getting a life-threatening illness, one other thought is that men are more likely to participate in unhealthy behaviors than women.

The good news is that a little more attention to your health (better nutrition and more exercise), and less indulging in bad habits (smoking, overeating, drinking etc…) you can have some control over your own fate.

Men are More Likely to Stay With a Woman Who Cheated With Another Woman!

According to one study, women who cheat with another woman have more of a chance of keeping their man around! In fact, men are more than twice as likely to keep their woman around when they cheated with another woman and not a man.

Since I write about relationships, cheating, and staying together afterwards, I found this point to be extremely fascinating. After I read this, I quickly went over to a forum that I participate in and posed the question ‘Would you be more likely to stay with your woman if they cheated with another woman instead of a man?’ and quickly got back a resounding YES. In fact, the yeses doubled the no’s!

Here are a few of the answers I got:

  • I would stay with her
and have a threesome with the other girl! It’s just common sense!
  • Depends on the reason she did it. If she was just being a bit curious bisexually, then maybe I’d cut her a bit of slack.
  • Probably not, but I would definitely feel offended I wasn’t let in on the deal!

These answers make me think that it’s all about the viewpoint that a man has. For instance, the men who think that women sleeping with women are sexy and exciting may be more likely to overlook the cheating than men who don’t care about that kind of thing.

Men are More Likely To Cheat on a Partner Who Makes More Money Than Them!

A study done by Christin Munsch, a sociologist and Ph.D. candidate at Cornell University, found that men who were not happy about their standing in the relationship and their ability to be the breadwinner, were more likely to cheat in a desire to prove their manhood.

According to her findings it seems as though men relate sexual encounters to masculinity (not a surprise), so conquering a sexual encounter with another woman may make him feel as though he has regained his ‘lost’ manhood.

This is an easy fix. We need to take away the stereotypes that men and women have in order to stop this kind of jealousy or low self-confidence.

Unfortunately, many men of this time still live in a ‘man’s world’ and feel threatened by women of power. I think it will take a few generations for this feeling of man versus woman to go away.

Men are More Likely to Leave Their Spouse if Their Spouse Get’s Cancer!

There has been research that has shown that a man is 6 times more likely to leave his wife if she gets news that she has a life-threatening illness. According to the researchers this may be because a man does not want to have to be a caregiver, while a woman would be more likely to take on that role for her man.

I personally would have thought this would have been the opposite. I thought that men would want to take care of their women when in crisis. But as I learned the other day, many men relate taking care of their woman with providing financially to her, whereas women actually feel protected and taken care of when they are shown love, affection, and understanding rather than being provided for financially.

There were many more studies done about what men are more likely to do or get, but I think that stereotypes are what hold men in this position of being more likely. For instance, drinking beer and smoking cigars may be the perfect image of a manly man, but it’s also the perfect image of an unhealthy man!

I think that some common sense and broken stereotypes would have a lot of these findings flipped on their backs!
