Everywhere you go there are successful bloggers bragging about how much traffic they get and how much money they make, while your blog is dead and lifeless? You have done everything that they are doing, so you think, but you are just not lucky at blogging.
Hey wait a minute! Becoming a successful blogger has nothing to do with luck! You have done the hard yards, ticked all the boxes before opening your blog to the world, but your blog still sees no real action.
Unfortunately there could be many reasons why your blog is dead and lifeless and hopefully I can cover a few reasons in this article.
Website visitors do not know what to do on your website
You get website visitors, but your blog is so dead and lifeless, that people have no idea what to do. They can’t see any obvious action to take or anything that interests them so they leave. Unfortunately they probably left without bookmarking your website, signing up to your list, or even giving you a second thought. This means that they will not be back.
You are too far up yourself
People recognize you from your avatar which is attached to your comments on other websites. They notice that you are up yourself and think you know everything from the comments that you leave. You might be trying to look like too much of an expert, which will scare people away because they think that they will not be able to relate to you. They also think that you will not have any time for them.
Building your online reputation is a very transparent process and you must monitor everything you say and do online.
Your blog just looks unprofessional
You are so cheap that you couldn’t even be bothered to search for a decent theme to your website. In fact you don’t even think that looks count in the blogging world. If you want to start a business blogging, I suggest you start looking for the best WordPress theme for you. Don’t be a scab and try and use the default WordPress theme, as this is seriously ugly and screams inexperience all over it.
You have no goals and therefore no conversions
You might be getting website visitors as you are writing decent content, however your blog seems dead and lifeless to you because you are not making any sales. There could be a number of reasons for this, but one of them is that you don’t have any goals. What do you want your website visitors to do? If you want to sell something from your website and write about it! Don’t just think you can put a banner in the sidebar and make thousands of dollars, because it doesn’t happen like that.
You do not have a unique selling proposition
What is so special about your website? If you don’t know the Answer to that then you have no USP (unique selling proposition). I suggest
You are as boring as hell
Your footprint on the Internet is as boring as hell! Even the comments you leave on other blogs are boring and people do not click on your links because they have already fallen asleep. People try to read your articles and are snoring with boredom. Surely you must know what an interesting article is? If you do not know, then I suggest you find out very soon. There are thousands of websites on the Internet and if yours is boring from the start then you have zero chance of becoming successful.
You don’t give people a reason to visit
What’s wrong with enticing people to visit your website? People think that they are scammers if they ask someone to visit the website. But if you have ever been in sales before, you will know that you need to cut to the chase and ask people to do what you want them to do. It is also better to give them fewer choices, as most people find it hard to make decisions for themselves.
My suggestion is that you entice people to your website, get them less choices, and eventually steer their direction to your moneymaking pages.
You have no giveaways
Did I hear you right? You haven’t got anything to give away to your website visitors? Well I feel sorry for you because you will need to give tons of stuff away to compete with every other Webmaster on the Internet. Why would they come to your website where there is nothing given to them for free, when they can go to 100 other websites and get heaps of goodies. The world has changed and you need to face it. Get with it and start giving stuff away.
Some people presume that you cannot give something away until you start making money. However, what if giving something away can actually make you money?
You do not reply to comments
You must make a daily blogging routine and add “replying to comments” as one of the number one jobs. People usually add comments on a blog to either ask a question, give an opinion, or get involved in a conversation. You need to acknowledge their participation by replying to the comment left on your blog. If you cannot manage to do this then you must be an especially busy person. Too busy to reply to people that want to get involved in your community.
You post articles every day and that’s it
It’s really great that you post articles every day, but that is not the end of the story. To be successful you need the whole package and that includes great content, following a SEO checklist, and promotion. So therefore you need to post your article, search engine optimize the content on the post, create back links coming into the post, social bookmark and social share your post, and hopefully then you have added your content correctly. Now you will go on to the next stage of servicing and maintaining your post. This might include entering comments and updating the post.
That is how you publish a post and it doesn’t just involve pressing the publish button.
I hope you now understand why your blog is dead and lifeless.
