I love audio! I love audio so much that I truly believe (and have experienced) that it can bring in a huge amount of traffic, simply by producing a few minutes worth of audio 2-3 times a week.
But what is even more effective, is when you combine audio with social media!
Why should you use audio in the first place?
When it comes right down to it, we want to feel connected to other human beings. Simply reading a blog post is GREAT, but being able to hear the person’s voice, knowing that they’re a real person, creates such a strong connection! You’re creating a personal relationship with whoever listens to your audio.
If you’re unsure how to go about creating audio, read on! I’m only mentioning the top 2 in this article, but there are a lot more options. Feel free to name some in the comments!
The top 2 ways to combine audio with social media:
1. Audio to Twitter for quick deals
This is such a fascinating idea that takes no more than a few moments and yet…it’s not used. There are two ways in which you can send audio to Twitter:
*Smartphone: Record a quick audio on your smartphone through an app like SoundCloud, CinchCast or Audioboo. All three apps are free, by the way, and as far as I know are available on both Android and iPhone.
*Computer: Record a quick audio through your computer’s mic or through a better microphone such as the Logitech Desktop Mic (a good beginners mic) and software like Audacity (which is FREE).

So now that you know HOW to record, WHAT should you record?
Keep in mind, each of these Twitter audios should be no more than 1 minute. 30 seconds is actually better, but no more than 1 minute. Short and sweet is key!
So what is it that you’d be recording?
At first, people will be hesitant toward the audio tweet, but once you make it known that when you tweet an audio, that it includes some special promo, coupon code, advice, etc., then they’ll be paying attention real quick.
So
What’s amazing about CinchCast, Audioboo and SoundCloud is that once you record the audio, you can then submit it directly to Twitter, Facebook and other social networks. There’s no extra step required!
Of course having it on multiple social networks is great, but the thing about Twitter, is that some people will actually have your tweets sent directly to their phone through a text message if they know that you’re going to be sending out specials and coupon codes. So they’ll listen to your audio right away then promptly go apply whatever coupon or offer or tip that you just gave to them, free of charge.
2.
Quick 1-2 minute podcast about fun ideas/tips/techniques/tricks, etc.
Ok, so you may be wondering how this is different than the above. It’s different because this isn’t to talk about some sort of coupon or promo. This is a podcast that is about 1-2 minutes long and you’re talking about something specific within your field.
First, here’s how to create a podcast.
Just like above, you’ll need a microphone and a software program. Once you acquire those items, you’ll be able to record your podcast!
Second, what do you say in your podcast?
Again, just like above, short and sweet is always best. You’ll want to keep your podcast between 1-2 minutes long. And what’s the best thing to talk about in 1-2 minutes? Tips, techniques, Q/A’s, etc., anything that is related to your niche and can be talked about in 1-2 minutes.
When you submit your podcast to a place like Podbean, it’ll give you the option to publish within iTunes as well. Once you have your podcast up in iTunes, you’ll be invincible! Because now people will easily be able to find your audio, download it and listen to it anywhere!
So once you have your audio, you can take that podcast, upload it to your podcasting site of choice (SoundCloud, Podbean, MixCloud, etc) then embed it within your blog, write up a little intro to the podcast, enter your SEO and publish!
THEN, submit that blog post up on Facebook, Twitter, Blogengage, Bizsugar, Blokube and where ever else you feel it’ll be appreciated.
BAM!
You’ve just now used two of the most powerful audio techniques to improve your authority and maximize your exposure.
Later on, you could repurpose that audio and make a Youtube out of it using slides. Lots of possibilities!
