10 Things I Learned From T. Harv Eker That Changed My Life

T. Harv Eker Secrets of the Millionaire Mind

Have you ever felt like your life was going in the wrong direction?

Like you want one thing but no matter how much you try and try, you just can’t seem to get it?

Well that was me all the way!

A little over 2 years ago, I was working the grave yard shift at a dead end job. I HATED it so much! It was only my 4th job I believe it or not but it didn’t take me long to see a pattern.

Every time I got a job, I would:

  1. Get in and be happy
  2. Start to dread going to work (3 to 5 months later)
  3. Get into it with my superiors (1 to 2 years)
  4. Look for better pay/better job

“I can’t do this for 40+ years”

This is the exact thought that came into my head over 2 years ago. I started looking for something more fulfilling and was directed to read books….

…You know the “self-help” books that society tends to stay away from. Funny how that works.

One of the first books I read was T. Harv Eker’sSecrets of the Millionaire Mind“. After reading this and a few more books, I started to think different.

I started to realize that I didn’t have to work 40+ years to live the life of my dreams. I could start then and live the life of my dreams in a few years.

Retire by 30! That’s the goal…

After getting fired (like you didn’t see that coming.. LOL) I focused like never before and thanks to 10 things I learned from reading Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, I’m comfortable in saying I’m now on track to live the life of my dreams 40 years sooner than most people think is even possible.

I’m going to share with you  these 10 things I learned that changed my life and they will do the same for you; if you want them to.

10. “Don’t believe a word I say”

In the beginning of his book T. Harv Eker threw in a slick disclaimer where he lets you know not to believe anything he says; basically letting you know that this may or may not work. Best way to get results is to go out and take action.

My thinking is “if he can do it, so can I”

So I took action and I see it paying off…

9. Have to be set for success

Success isn’t something you can just buy from the store. You actually have to put in work. You are going to fail many times before you reach success.

The mindset you have to wake up with every morning is “No matter how bad it is, or how bad it gets, I’m going to make it”

When you get to the point where you want success as bad as you want to breath, you’ll be successful.

8. Whatever works keep doing it; whatever doesn’t you’re welcome to throw away

There’s a saying that most people give up right before reaching the success they desire. This comes from not being “set for success“.

When you are set for your success, you’ll implement a process until it makes or breaks you. If you do something for a long period of time and see no results, then strap it; but usually what happens is you perfect the method and become successful.

7. We all have “Potential”

It’s true that everyone has greatness within them but many never awaken this sleeping giant. It took books like  ”Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” (and many others) for me to see that there was so much more out here than a 9 to 5 for 40 years.

6. We all need someone to keep it “Real” with us

This one thing helped me awaken my true potential. I knew so much about internet marketing, it would blow some people’s mind; yet my income didn’t reflect it.

It wasn’t until I realized that people are hungry for the knowledge that I have; so much so that they will pay me for it.

I’ve ranked websites on the top of Google in 35 minutes; completely took over the first page of Google for affiliate launches; made $700+ from a few hours of work and many more stories but none of that matters if you can’t see greatness within yourself.

My friends constantly push me to be great. I know I’m great already but it’s good when you have a circle of friends who push you to do better.

5. It’s not their fault; it’s YOURS!

It took me a while to understand this but if you keep going from opportunity to opportunity and you’re the only person not seeing success, it’s not the company, the opportunity or the people around you. It’s YOU.

The person

in the mirror needs to change something and deep down you know what it is. Thanks to some amazing audio from Eric Thomas (ET The Hop Hop Preacher), I suddenly found motivation to wake up early. The reason I wasn’t successful was because of the way I spending the 24 hours I have in a day.

We all get 24 hours in a day. The only difference between You, me and Oprah Winfrey is she uses her 24 hours differently.

4. Everyone is not meant to be successful

This is one that was hard for me to grasp. You get into something like internet marketing and you want all your friends to get in and experience true freedom.

Only problem is they don’t have the same drive or goals as you. I eventually came to the conclusion that I’m not here to save everyone. I’m here to help those that want to help themselves.

Trying to save everyone, you end up putting more burden on you than you can bare and most end up failing anyway.

3. Old ways of thinking gotta go!

Where are you in life? If not where you want or deserve to be, then it’s obvious that what you’ve been doing is NOT working…

You need to change your thinking or else you will stay in the 95% of people who live a mediocre life.

2. Have to be willing to let go

This goes hand and hand with #8. Being successful is all about making changes to yourself because it’s ultimately your fault why you aren’t successful.

Let go of old habits. You may have some habits that may be hindering your success; I don’t know. I heard a great speaker once say,

“When you become successful, you don’t ask what’s wrong with it; you ask what’s right with it. How is what I’m doing going to help me get where I’m trying to go” – Eric Thomas

1. Child hood influence

t. harv eker jesse eker secrets of the millionaire mindCould you imagine being the son of such a great person like T. Harv Eker? Aside from the fact that you’d be expected to follow in his footsteps, you would greatly benefit in life from having one of the greatest educators in history as your father.

It shows because Jesse Eker, son of T. Harv Eker, has created his own lane and like me, is fond of internet marketing. He says it fits his lifestyle. You can view Jesse Eker’s interview here.

How your parents live(d) their lives weighs heavily on your adulthood. I see parents all the time who want the best for their kids but I can tell from the way they live that the best is not really that much…

You can’t teach your kids what you yourself don’t know; meaning if a parent is not educated on how money works, they can’t teach their kids which means the process repeats itself generation to generation until someone wakes up and says…

“I can’t do this for the next 40+ years! There has to be more!”

 Conclusion

I’ve given you 10 specific things I learned from Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. I live by and apply these methods daily and as I grow, I see them working.

How can I see the proof? I’m happier, my finances are growing and my business is taking off to new heights.

I’ve come along way just like everyone in internet marketing but the journey is worth and you’ll see once you get in it.

At one point, I would “hope for the best and expect the worse”…

…Now I hope for the best and expect nothing but the best. Being successful has a lot to do with mindset. Work on that and you’ll be successful.

Hi Dennis, I very much enjoyed this piece. I think one of the most important things is in point 5. Making sure that you realise its not circumstance its down to you. The top people in any field all have internal locus of control and know success or failure is down to what they do not outside influences. To quote George Bernard Shaw “People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, make them.”

Yep. I could easily say my mother & father’s views on money made me who I am today and accept that but why when I can create a legacy and break the chain for generations that come after me…

That mirror is powerful. A lot more people need to use it…

Thanks for coming through and commenting. I really appreciate it..

You make very good points, Dennis!

I’ll call you on #1, though. I would never entertain the notion of being any one else’s son but my father’s. My dad was a monument in my life, as was mom. I was fortunate that they understood their roles, not only as parents, but also mentors. They pushed me on and upward, praised my successes and worked with me on my failures. Bless ‘em!

Also bless the likes of T. Harv Eker who appeal to folks who are searching for perspective and success.

Great post! You caused me to recall some great memories.

If I’m reading your comment right, I wouldn’t change fathers.. LOL..

I love my dad just the way he is. I’m simply stating how great it would have been to have a father who was so financially educated. My life would have been a lot different much earlier.

But it wasn’t meant to be… Glad you liked it Fred. Wish you the best…

  7. Hey Dennis, your point #5 really resonated with me. “It’s not their fault; it’s yours” is an important concept that lots of people seem to miss. Living in the USA, I see this all around me. It’s a general lack of accountability and a reluctance to take responsibility for one’s own circumstances.

I believe this is the pitfall of anyone looking to make a change.

“If it’s them, it’s you” is what I tell people. I believe it is a very healthy thing to look at things that are not going the way you want them to and ask yourself what YOU could do to change things, rather than pushing the blame onto others. This applies in employment, dating, relationships, entrepreneurship, learning and many more areas, and it is the root of the “no excuses” mentality that distinguishes the successful people from the “wantrepreneurs”.

    Cheers for a great post!

Success is not for everyone! Heck, it is not for the 99% of this world.

You have to eat and live success everyday if you are even having the hope of getting anywhere.

Your desire has to be so great that it engulfs all the negativity and bad thoughts that can bring you down.

    Excellent article man :)

You got it Sam.. I had to figure this out. I have friends who are struggling with the jobs they’re at or the lack there of…

and i’ll mention “you should start a business” and rather than ask for more help or advise, they either ignore what I said or say they’ll leave that stuff to me..

I’ve now come to the conclusion that I’ll just let everyone who wants this knowledge come to me…

      Works better that way..

      Thanks for coming through
