Link building is one of the most important elements of achieving a higher ranking and one of the best ways to build backlinks to your blog is through web2.0 sites. There are so many web2.0 sites out there, and some of them carry a lot of weight with search engines like Google when it comes to authority. We all know that backlinks from dofollow sites are the ones that actually count when it comes to achieving a higher ranking. That is why most bloggers only use dofollow web2.0 sites to build backlinks. That is a huge mistake!
Googles Number 1 Link Building Rule
If you read Google’s webmasters guideline or ask any SEO expert, you will know that the number one rule for link building is that they should be built naturally. Do hunderds of backlinks all from dofollow sites and no links from nofollow site look natural to you?… Exactly! That is why I made this big list of web2.0 sites without worrying about dofollow or nofollow web2.0 sites. The best practice for link building is using a mix of both kinds of web2.0 sites. By using only dofollow web 2.0 sites to build backlinks, you risk getting your blog penalized, as it will make Google and other search engines suspicious. With that said, here is the list of web 2.0 sites along with their current page rank:

How do I start linking to them? You have provided the homepage URL only. Does the PR of the Homepage carries over the other pages? Example Blogger(blogger.com) which is PR 8. How I do link to Homepage?

You dont have to get backlinks from the home page. When you get a backlinks from a sub domain of any of these sites, the homepage juice rank is passed on to you and your link somewhat..

Thanks for the great list. Do you think these sites are still effective for linking since the last google algorithm update?

EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thank you for this list! I am now engaged in the labourious process of creating profiles and networking at most of these sites. It takes creativity and energy but it’s a lot more fun than I expected. BTW, thank you for the insight about natural linkbuilding and ignoring dofollow/nofollow. I’ve always maintained that one shouldn’t be too picky about where one gets links otherwise one won’t end up with any, and your rationale about mimicking natural linkbuilding is just extra vindication.
You are welcome.
You are on the right path, keep doing what you are doing and you will get there.
And you are right, its best to not be picky about dofollow-nofollow, since natural backlinks don’t just come from dofollow sites.
Best of luck to you.
