The traffic to the API on this server has increased by 60% this year and is growing at an exceptional (nearly exponential) rate. Each new blog means at least 5 more requests to deal with every day. With thousands of new members each month, it’s starting to get pretty hard for my entry level 2gb server to deal with the load.
I have had to put in some cacheing of the last blog post requests. Right now, members have their return list cached for 1 hour and non-members are cached for 24 hours. This means if you make a new post on your site, it wont show up in your return list until the cache has expired.
If you click the little arrow next to the post that is shown from your site while you’re commenting, you will be able to see if the return list is cached and for how long.
I hope this will reduce the amount of work my server has to do, if it starts misbehaving when you comment on commentluv enabled sites then please let me know!
Thank you Mr. Andy…. its no problem for me…

Recently I’ve had no issues with commentluv, and it remains one of my favorite site addons. Keep up the good work.

thanks for your feedback Rob, I love what you’ve done with the comic press theme. I may be installing that to comluv blogs with the comicpress manager plugin as a premium feature. Happy to give you a free package if you fancy creating a comic on this site?

Hey Andy, over the last couple of days I notice that it’s not picking up my posts anymore and I get an error instead. It does work if I use one of my other blogs, but not wassup. It’s says banned for having three feed errors, but it’s the same feed I always use???

you just need to visit http://comluv.com/member/unban-url/ to get your url off the ban list. It can happen if your feed is a bit slow to respond 3 times in a row.
I had to put in this banning routine because the server was having near death experienced trying to fetch a squillion non existent feeds.
I put your http://wassupblog.com/ url in the unban page and now it seems to be working fine for you.

Thanks Andy, I did visit that page but I couldn’t work out what to do. Perhaps I typed the link in wrong, or maybe I was having a blonde moment. Anyway, thanks again mate, you always come through.

Hi Andy,
I have the same problem as Sire. The last week or so the plugin is not picking up my posts.
Can you unban me? I don’t remember my login and don’t have time to look for it.
Thanks,
Vance

seriously? you don’t have time to get a new password for your account but you have time to write a comment asking me to do it? you don’t think I’m busy too? lol. do it yourself, that’s why I spent hours writing the code to put it up there.
it’s seem no problem on my blog. i wish the cacheing system that you implemented could reduce comluv server load.
Thanks for your hard job fixing Comluv problem. May GBU ^^

First, I unbanned my url http://another-blogger.com not works.
Second, I unbanned my url http://www.another-blogger.com and works.
I hope this information will help you on something.
Thanks Andy,

a url with www and one without are two separate urls. You just need to unban the one you are using when you comment and get that message.

Thanks Andy, but there’s a new problem here. CommentLuv not showing my latest post, but the one before my latest post. How can it be?

Hi I’m still trying to unban myself and it doesn’t seem to be working. When I click the commentluv icon responding to comments on my own site it says, “bad juju happened…” Any ideas?

if you’re responding to comments on your own site and you’re getting that error, it’s probably because you haven’t got a value set in your profile for website.
visit your own dashboard and go to ‘your profile’ and enter in your url in the website field. Commentluv uses that value for logged on users because there is no url field that shows on a logged on comment form.

My responses seem to be getting cached for 24 hours. I signed up for commentluv which I thought meant I get a 1 hour cache, but that hasn’t happened. Is there something else I should be doing?
Also, the banned for 3 feed errors – happens to me every few days. I keep submitting and getting cleared, but it just comes back.
I’m not saying this to be complainy, I’m just not very knowledgeable in this area so I’m wondering if there is a mistake that I’m making somewhere.
Thanks!

once you are registered, you need to add your site url to http://comluv.com/member/ and specify your feed address so you don’t get any more errors.
