Reasons Why I love Reading Books, the journey begins:
One of the reasons why I love reading books is because I started early. Truth be told, I have always been a reader for as long as I can remember. As a matter of fact, ever since I was around 2 years old. My mother was the first person who introduced me to my love as she encouraged me to start reading books by bringing home a a different book for me every week. The first book I remember reading on my own was a book about how to tell time. To this day I still tell my mom that she is the reason I love reading books so much .
I remember being fascinated by books even while reading the books that came in the simplest forms, such as one word books. I would pick up a picture book with a few words here and there and from then on up until now, I was hooked on books. As a matter of fact, I used to love reading books so much as a child that I would beg my mom to take me down to the bookstore so we could buy more books !
I think the reason I love reading books so much is because in my opinion, reading is an almost magical thing and to be honest, I find it quite enjoyable as well as relaxing. If you sit down with a good book to read, it is as if you can go to an entirely different world, and be in a world of your own for a few hours. When you’re so deeply engrossed in a book, you’ll notice that books have that amazing ability to transport you, evoking different feelings of sadness, joy , anger e.t.c,- it just all depends on what you are reading.
Books can also be the source of creating memories in your life and even at whatever stage you may be in your life, reading a good book can help you deal with life quite a bit. The books I love to read normally read consist of novels (specifically dramatic novels and thrillers), inspirational biographies e.t.c, now that I have a Kindle, I read ebooks mostly, but always pick up a pysical paper novel or book from time to time.
Nostalgic Summers Spent Reading Books
When I was 15, I remember reading 4 books in the span of 7 days (this was in the summer time months and no I did not have a job) ! Nowadays due to life getting busier and having to concentrate on other areas of my life, I still manage to squeeze in reading at least 2 books every month.
I still get nostalgic whenever I come across books that I’ve previously read in my past. Why? Because they have the power to momentarily remind me and take me back to that point in my life. I am able to remember what I was going through (both the good and the bad) and how far I’ve come. For example, reading VC Andrews’s books transport me back to the teenage summers when I was around 14-16, these were summers where the days were spent without a care in the world, I guess you could say even thought at 14-16 years of age I did have some issues and insecurities I was dealing with ( like most teenagers); – those issues were not complex now that I’m a bit grown. I’d sit on the porch after breakfast and get tomy reading, then take a break, grab a snack or lunch and keep reading books…
Reading books can transport you to a world of your own making
VC Andrews’s books have that gift of transporting you to an entirely different world (one you want to stay in and see what happens) . I smile and get a bit nostalgic and a bit saddened that this part of my life is long gone and over as looking back, life really was quite simple and it brings a new meaning that the simple things in life are what matters and bring the most joy. For me, reading books has always been a great refuge and at times a great momentarily escape.
Wherever I go, even if I’m traveling, I make sure that I have one tucked away; – although as mentioned, I own a Kindle now, I still like the feel of a physical paperback from now and then. If you would like to know more about the Kindle, and how you can also start reading books on the go while using an ereader, you can do so at Kindle Depot.
Some of my favorite authors are:
Favorite authors to me are the authors who I have in the past maintained a consistent effort in reading their books. To me, a favorite author is one you regularly and thoroughly enjoy reading books from – at most, if not all of the books they’ve written. These are the authors I keep up with and enjoy reading books from whenever there’s a newly released book.
VC Andrews
Stephen King
Dean Koontz
Laurel McDaniel
Nicolas Sparks

I totally agree. Long Live Books! (I do love my Kindle though too)…
Hi Gain,
Great post and I am also a fan of reading books. Like you, my love affair with books began at a very, very early age. And, like you, it began with my parents.
Books really do have a magical way of transporting your mind to another time and another place. Many of my friends are readers too and we all experience times when, well, time just slips away.
Although I enjoy movies from time to time, they really cannot hold a candle to a good book. Getting wrapped up in a good book takes you on a journey in your imagination that no amount of special effects can match.
My favorite author? There are so many but one I return to again and again is Frank Herbert and his Dune series. I read them for the first time as a child and have returned to them year in and year out. Now that they are memorized, it’s more like a comfort food. I know what to expect but enjoy it each and every time.
Thanks for sharing your love of reading books!
Vince

Hi, Gain
Me too, I started reading books when I was about 7 years old, my mother was my first teacher she, encouraged me to read children books first. I am crazy for fairy tales, so I shift into adventures. I do love James Patterson’s books, I am fascinated.. hmm, love story, I don’t really relate on that.
Totally agree!

Reading is extremely important and should be done by everyone – however I dont seem to have the time to sit down and read a good book. Most of my reading is done online.

Reading is great, and there’s no excuse not to spend more time with books. With an amazing library system, it’s amazing more people don’t spend time there. Free books! Can you imagine the party if Amazon gave books away for free for even a day? Obviously the library books are on loan, not to own. But there is a wealth of stuff available, for free, paid for by our taxes.

Love your thoughts on the power of a book and the nostalgia that goes with it. People think of that nostalgia when they hear “old” favorite tunes … books give you that same feeling.
