There’s been a fantastic response by the existing members of CommentLuv on the new site. Already there have been over 50 blogs imported since the last email broadcast declaring the place open.
I’ve seen some great blogs created already and I’m looking forward to featuring some of you in the email newsletter and on the main page of the site soon. If you have a blog on ComLuv that you’d like to shout about, let me know and I’ll give you some exposure.
Quite a few of you have asked where to download the plugin, short answer is, you can’t yet! It’ll be running exclusively on ComLuv and the member blogs for a few days while I see how it behaves. As soon as it’s stable, I’ll update it on the codex.
Even more of you have asked for particular plugins to be installed on your ComLuv blog. This network is run on Wordpress Mu which is just like Wordpress.com, they don’t have a plugins folder for you to upload your own files because a mistyped sql query or errant semi-colon could have a massive effect on every blog the site hosts.
That’s not to say there will be NO plugins, far from it! My intention is to have a whole host of plugins, some really excellent exclusive deals here for ComLuv members and the usual run of “most wanted”.
The best thing you can do if you want a particular plugin is visit the ComLuv support desk here and leave a feature/plugin request ticket. The plugins that get the most requests will be investigated and tested on my local install and then put into place if they behave nice.
Another thing are custom themes, this too will be looked into after the site settles in.
Oh, and tutorials! There’ll be a good selection of them coming too. If there’s anything in particular you would like to know, please use the support tickets system and ask away. Your questions will help to construct the FAQ which will help future users.
There are some videos explaining how to setup your ComLuv blog in the support panel in the dashboard, just click the link for each video and wait a few seconds for the flash file to download and press the play button when you see it. I’ll be updating all these videos as time progresses to be specific to this site and to the extra features available to ComLuv members.
If you’ve done something special or useful to your ComLuv blog and are the tutorial type, post it on your site here and let me know and I’ll feature the best ones here and in the newsletter. That’s upwards of 9000 people you could be publishing to!
I have some news about how the new plugin differs from the old one and will be posting that in the dev section later today and linking to it in the newsletter going out later.
Happy blogging!

Hi, Andy! I just started a WordPress blog and wanted to register it, in addition to (not instead of) my Blogger blog (that needs to stay there forever, for historical value, whether I continue to update it or not – it’s the first CommentLuv for Blogger blog! Yay!)
Anyway, I’m having a little weirdness on the new blog (e.g., of course I can only display latest post, since it’s not registered; sometimes, it fails to pick up any post – usually on the SECOND and subsequent comments made after logging into my account). No rush on answers, and it may be that the new plug-in will render these issues irrelevant. I can wait.
Oh, sure, right…you know me better than that!

Holly: give it a few days and I should have the new blogger commentluv out, it should upgrade automatically for blogger. there will be an option to install it when the day comes, probably better to delete the widget and install the new on with the new page for download.
I know for sure that you’ll be one of the first to let me know if there’s any problems with the new one!
