Things may seem a little quiet here lately but it’s only because I’m behind the scenes doing some major updates because, you see, I’ve been listening to what people have been asking for and I have stayed in my man-cave tapping on my keys every day for the past week, there’s probably another week of tappety tappy to go before I’m done but I thought I’d let you know what is to come..
New API
I’m testing out a new API that I’ve written from scratch. This should hopefully consume less resources, find more feeds and give you easier to understand messages if something is wrong with your feed.
New Theme
I like this theme, it’s clean (hey, that rhymes!) but, I want more real estate for tutorials, featured members and other fancy things that I have planned so I’ve commissioned a new theme from a designer I have worked with in the past and I’m pretty sure I’ll have something cool to play with by Tuesday.
I have a ‘thingy’ floating in my mind about some new themes that would be reeeeally useful to members too but that”ll have to wait until I get mine. so there.
New Signup Method
So far, there’s been nearly 10,000 people who have registered their URL for extra luv from CommentLuv and even though nearly all of them have managed to go through the process without issue, there seems to be a trickle of emails and support tickets coming in every day from people who just can’t figure out what “register your url here” means so, as part of the new theme I will be adding a “start here!” section where someone can search to see if their URL is in the system and if it is, recover their password or create a new account and take ownership of the URL.
One thing I’ve learned over the past year of running the old CommentLuv hub; even a great big button staring you in the face saying “click here” will be invisible to someone who is not having a good day. Another thing, people would much rather send an email asking what’s wrong with the site than click to the front page to see if there’s any latest news that would answer their question.
That’s why I have a whole section in mind for newbies and beginners (not everyone knows what U.R.L means when I ask for it). And another section for walking you through the signup process. Oh, and plenty of video tutorials too.
New Support Tickets.
I’ve mentioned this before but it’s worth keeping in mind. The support tickets here work but I’m tired of having to reply with “what site?” or “where is this happening” and then wait another day for the reply. Once the new theme is in, I’ll put in the new support tickets system that wont let a ticket get entered unless I get me some answers first! things like, “what site are you having a problem with?” and “what is the url of the page you’re having a problem on?” etc etc. That’s gonna save me at least a half hour a day!
New Versions.
In between doing all these other things (and working full time ( and running a company) ), I’ve been trying some code to get CommentLuv on some other comment platforms. I already have updated blogger commentluv so it can work with js-kits new themes and I’m currently working on Disqus too, that’s a bit harder though so I might take a break from that and work on Intense Debate.
Right. Now you know. Can I go back in my cave please?
New API, New Theme, New Tutorials, New signup, New new new!
