One thing that can scupper CommentLuv users is when their theme has no autodiscovery feed url entered into their sites header. They have a subscribe to feed by email box and a big ass RSS feed button on the sidebar but those are no good to a robot computer script. All it knows is that your header is bare and there’s no feed there!.
The autodiscovery code
To best ensure that your sites feed is visible to all, especially CommentLuv when it comes calling, you need to insert a bit of code to your sites header. You can tell if it’s there or not by viewing your blog in Firefox browser and looking for the rss icon in the address bar (top image). If it’s there then you have nothing to worry about, if not, just follow the instructions below
WordPress Blogs Default RSS feed
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="<?php bloginfo('name'); ?> RSS Feed" href="<?php bloginfo('rss2_url'); ?>" />
Any Blogs FeedBurner Feed
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Feedburner Feed" href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/yourfeedburnerid" />

This was very helpful. I could not figure out why Comment Luv wasn’t picking my feed up. It does now.

I thought I was going to need to look over my html source but that little tip with the Firefox address bar rss icon was about as easy as it gets. I appreciate it.

I didn’t know there’s a certain code that you can insert into a blog to get that shortcut RSS feed url!
After all, most of the blogs I am using already has that button, although for some that do not have one, this is one useful info.
Lovely FB tip!

Thanks for this tip, I was wondering why I had nothing but curl error 28 when trying to comment on CommentLuv sites since I switched to my new blog theme. I am hoping putting in the link code above solves the problem.

make sure you unban your url too, that could be causing a problem if you were getting errors before. Also, you can enter in your exact feed url on the member page so comluv will always use that.

Hi Andy,
I am getting errors with comluv not finding my feeds. I have tried reregistering my site here at comluv. Re installing my feed at feedburner. Unbanning my site.
The only other method which I can’t get my head around is having the feed in my header. I checked with firefox and the RSS seems to be in the browser, but still not working.
What and how should I do to sort this. I ahev recently changed my hosting account and this did ccause a few problems with things could this be the problem?
Cheers
Craig

Hi Andy,
I tried that and still no joy. The message I get now when I comment on blogs is
“Error on site http://www.craigsowerby.com – trying to read http://feeds.feedburner.com/craigsowerby resulted in erorr: A feed could not be found at http://feeds.feddburner.com/craigsowerby”
I will submit a support ticket.
Cheers
