As I am not an American, this is new to me. Black Friday. Doesn’t conjure up feelings of great joy that’s for sure! We have sales starting Boxing Day (day after Christmas). It used to be January 1st but apparently people want to take back unwanted gifts and get bargains sooner!!! I’d have thought we would have had enough of shopping by the time Christmas comes. At least with your tradition, it’s done before then.

Thanks for the comment! Black Friday is definitely one of the busiest/craziest days in the USA. It’s the official start to the holiday shopping season and people literally wait for hours upon hours just to snag a great deal. I have done this a few times in the past and there are many mixed emotions – some good some bad. Sales after Boxing Day is something new to me! This is why I enjoy this community so much – I learn something new everyday!

Does that count?
Barbara, Yes this does count! Excellent video – great tips. I find it amusing that in order to get into the “holiday” mood you have a santa hat on – I could not agree more that stores market Christmas a bit too much. It seems we go from Halloween to Xmas overnight!
Great tips, great video!

Woaa! Thanks for bringing back the memories. Let me give you a little tip about black friday. If you want one of those big ticket items like a 50″ TV or $200 Laptop, then you need to go the extra mile. I mean it, you cannot just show up and think you are going to walk in the store and find the TVs just sitting there.
I worked in retail, and most stores end up selling the big ticket items by way of a voucher that they hand to people waiting in line before opening. In my case, we directed the customers to the back of the store near the car audio dept and processed their purchase there. This avoids messy riots and possible injuries… So be prepared and patient. I heard that Wal Mart is opening its doors at mid-night. CRAZY!
