I’ve been messing with the code for the CommentLuv search engine and taken advantage of the new columns in the db so I’ll be able to have a much more accurate list of blogs that are commentluv enabled and have them automatically update every week so users will be able to search for any term and see a long list of results of commentluv giving sites.
How it works
The script will auto run every Saturday morning and will scrape the database for every single site that has requested a last blog post list for a commenter and add it to a list that I host here at ComLuv. The search box on each page uses a Google custom search engine which constantly monitors the (BIG) list of sites that are commentluv enabled and passes back results only from those sites.
mmmm Fresh and googley
Only fresh commentluv enabled sites are returned which means you will always get the most up to date results and you can be sure that each link you visit will have commentluv enabled somewhere and because it uses the Google algorythms to do the searching you can be sure of a good set of results for your terms.
Gaming the system
Occasionaly, sites like to game the system by sending tons of fake traffic to the api trying to get their sites listed. I have lots of checks and security measures in place to counter that but, occasionaly there will be a site in the results that hasn’t got any luv on it anywhere. If you find one of these, please report it using the support tickets system or adding a comment here.
1 week away
The changes to the database schema have to run for a week before I can enable the new script so there are plenty of sites available to put on the list. I have to do some checks at the end of the 7 days and if all goes well, the new improved search function will be live.
