Change Challenges For The Giant
Every day technology products are changing and their life cycles are getting shorter, the emergence of innovation , breakthroughs and behavioral changes in society are encouraged by new technology. It makes the players in the technology world have to swiftly respond to change. Adaptation and a willingness to change is the key to survive and grow in the future.
Now is Time to Change
Currently several large technology companies are facing pressure to change. Some seem enthusiastic about the change, but some are still reluctant.
The name that can be included in the need to change list could include Microsoft, Intel, Nokia and Research In Motion.
- Microsoft, though still firmly in the software / operating system market, begin to seem ‘unimportant’ in the middle of the growing concentration of activities on the internet. Many people simply don’t care what OS is employed, as long as they can access the internet.
- Intel, their position once seemed unassailable in the processor market. But the attention of today’s consumers is increasingly focused on mobile devices, tablets or smartphones and Intel has not become champion in that sexy market .
- Nokia, increasingly eroded by the aggressive growth of the smartphone market. Change is essential for the Finnish giant.
- Research In Motion with its BlackBerry might still enjoy a good market, especially in Indonesia. However, ‘wind’ blows not in the desired direction of this Canadian company. Even the owner of the shares of RIM wants to change there.
Those who have successfully changed
Here are some successful example of good changes in technology companies. The most Legendary is probably experienced by ‘the big blue’ – IBM.
After being dominated as a provider of PCs, IBM’s success turned into a provider of corporate solutions and high technology. It released its PC business to Lenovo, which until now is still producing top quality products.
But do not think that change comes easily. The process of transformation that made IBM has taken place since the 1990s (Lexmark sales) until the 2000s (when Lenovo bought the PC unit).
A long process of change, and successful, also done by Apple. Belle of the current technology industry planted the seeds of change in 1997. That was when Steve Jobs returned to the company he founded.
Jobs is certainly not alone in making these changes. Restoring innovation and product design to Apple’s core, until delivery of products that are easy to use and, yes, cool.
How about Google will they succeed with their plan? It seems that they have started and headed in the right direction with their Google+ project , let see.
Change must happen, either slowly or instantaneously. Sometimes the changes happen as you wish, sometimes forced. Change can come as a rupture of a large company so many smaller companies or otherwise small firms are ‘captured’ big the big company. It would be much easier and it will require less cost and energy if the change is done because of your own desires. Yes change is a choice.
in the technology world change is bound to take place. and if a company needs to survive they have bend themselves for sure. being flexible is what technology demands

Hai Himanshu I agree with you. Flexibility is the first thing to be seen. consumer behavior is changing very fast and it’s driven by technology itself. so the players in the world of technology should be faster to anticipate the changes.

I really admire and appreciate your firm and well fabricated research on the technology world,I’m completely agreed with you that the companies which are associated with this day by day growing industry, should have to make frequent changes and make themselves updated.People always get inclined towards the latest technology and just because of this they get inclined towards those companies who are providing them the latest technology. For the better success these companies should have need to be get more flexible according to the demands.Thank You for sharing such a great and informative content with us.

Thank You Manish , glad you liked it. obligations change I’m sure not only the needs of the giants. all companies were from small to large must prepare for change. even at one point the change sometimes does not guarantee of success, So what happens if no change ?

This is a great article. Change is something that everyone must keep up with in order to survive. But it makes me wonder if technology is racing too fast? Before an innovation gets incorporated into the common society, something new emerges. However, when looked back in time, without such extreme technological discoveries the world would seem like a non-functioning place. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Zarina people living in modern times very closely with technology and integrates with daily life. Because their life easier with technology. and incredibly they are very quick to absorb new technologically. we never know what can be created by technology in the future.

It’s quite amazing how unsuccessful Mircosoft is at innovating. Frankly they’ve only acquired companies with good ideas (like skype) or copied successful ideas years after (like zune, microsoft stores, etc). I wonder if the company suffered from overconfidence. Though what should we expect from a company that essentially took windows 95 from Xerox.
Google + I still don’t see has becoming successful. Facebook already has too much of a foothold. But Google will be fine. They innovate enough.

today is google and facebook under the spotlight at the most. because they did something significant in their playground. a clear result will emerge from their great efforts.
to Microsoft in my opinion the most important thing is they have to initiate change by replacing their CEO. and google is the best example for this case.

Those that don’t change are destined to die. And big companies are an easy target to this saying, because they’ve become proud.
But i don’t believe Google is there with them, simply because i see new things coming out of Google every month, they seem to be in a constant change. This makes them flexible and harder to break.
