building traffic commentLuv

In my opinion CommentLuv is one of the most valuable plugins available to both the blog owner and to a commenter. Why you ask? Because it adds TWO backlinks for every comment left. But the difference is, the commenter gets to direct one of the links to one of their blog posts. With a registered ComLuv account, a user has ten of their latest post via their feed URL. If a user purchases credits they can add additional URLs and add default posts they can choose from as well.

If done correctly, CommentLuv can bring you targeted traffic all you do is choose what blog post you want to post along with your comment and it will leave a link back to your site. If you choose a catchy title for your posts, this will catch another visitor’s eye and they will click back to your blog post. If they like it they will continue to read, if not they will leave.

CommentLuv Strategy 1

In order to keep your readers on your site and return for more, you need to use CommentLuv strategically. What I mean by this, when you read an article about a particular topic, don’t just let CommentLuv select the default link every time you comment. This creates an almost useless link back to your site. If it has nothing to do with the topic, some readers may not click on your link (this is where a catchy post title comes in handy.) Instead of using the default or a random link, try and add a link back to one of your related posts. An example would be if, the post is about Twitter resources, and you just did a post over Twitter Clients, then you would select that link. When you do this, you give the visitors another source for information about the current topic. Plus, it will give you more traffic back to your site. Of course this only works when you have an article that relates to the current article you are reading. If you do not have a blog entry that is not related to the current topic, try and add a link that is the closest related to the article.

CommentLuv Strategy 2

I also found that when posting multiple comments to a blog post or even to different blog post entry on the same site, I would see users posting the same blog post over and over again. To me, this is a waste. If you end up posting multiple comments on the same site, mix it up a little. Even if you do not have any post entries that are of related content; give the readers more links for them to click on. I found that by doing this on most Commentluv enable sites, I get more traffic back to my site when I do this. When I do not and I just use the same link, I see a drop in traffic. You can even using this strategy on your site. This will give you interlinks and also give you a little more visibility to your to your other work.

Conclusion

Everyday I see a lot of traffic coming because of CommentLuv. I am constantly looking for and research new ways to get more traffic through comments. Using CommentLuv is only way to get to more traffic, if you are not using CommentLuv or just using the default link provided by your RSS Feed, why not try it out and take advantage of CommentLuv and help yourself to more traffic.

What strategies do you use with your CommentLuv plugin?

I have been doing #2 in the comments of my post on article marketing promotion. Sometimes it’s just random, but if someone mentions that they like HubPages, for example, I leave the Promote HubPages using CommentLuv article in my response CommentLuv link.

It’s definitely a good idea to leave multiple posts behind, because as people scroll through the comments, they will see your different entries and see what kind of variety you have to offer, making them more likely to click one of your links and browse more pages on your site.

Both of your strategies are sound!

Also, on my own blog, because my blog is dofollow, I choose not to turn on the CommentLuv feature IF I’m replying to comments on my latest post (because if I do, I’ll be posting a link back to that same post over and over again). Instead, I just turn it off.

But if someone leaves a comment on an earlier post and I respond, I enable CommentLuv and link back to a post that is relevant to my comment, or to my latest post.

      Thanks,

When commenting on your on blog, when not just change the link and select a different post? I do that on my site, haven’t had any issues, and I seem to get more traffic.

Of course I do this a couple of times and turn off comluv so I do not duplicate myself as well.

I guess because I’m too lazy to do that every time. And often times, I reply from the admin panel, and you can’t choose your posts that way (I don’t think).

P.S. If you see the ‘great comments get you noticed’ link a lot here, it’s because I am keeping that one up for the contest. :)

I think I get substantial traffic from the blogs I comment on that use CommentLuv. I am careful to feature my most relevant post.

I do wish CommentLuv allowed me to go further back in time than it currently does to popular older posts…

      John,

I agree, I get a lot more traffic from commentluv enabled sites than than sites without the comluv plugin.

As for for more post options. I wish you could have more to choose from. Andy may not be able to do this for some reason. But he does have options where you can use credits and you can add extras post links I believe. Check out ComLuv’s credit system and see what they have to offer.

I have been using both #1 and #2 strategy myself and believe it or not I meant to write a post very similar to this and you beat me to it, lol. Of course the strategy #1 is only applicable if in fact you are commenting on sites that are relevant to your own niche. As I said you beat me to it so I totally agree that these strategies are solid and should be implemented by everyone. Thumbs up.

I have stumbled upon some neat blogs through Comment Luv. I do wish I could go back further and use an older post as one of the choices. Maybe Andy would consider a subscription price that would allow more then 10 choices at a flat rate, instead of having to pay for each new choice.

I agree, almost every day, I find a new blog to follow or at least another interested article that I would never have found if it had not been for ComLuv.

As for going back and using older posts, there is option where you can purchase credits to use towards adding extra post that are older.

    Thanks Element321!

Just today I was doing a site comparison of my main site and blog. By making making comments on CommentLuv sites, my blog site has rapidly accumulated a huge number of backlinks. Must be that x10 factor of listing those last 10 posts.

      Dr. Joe,

I see a big difference in traffic when using ComLuv / commenting strategies, just commenting w/o ComLuv, and not commenting at all.

The worst is not commenting at all. I went out town for a week and didn’t comment at all and my traffic had a large decrease. in traffic.

As for just commenting, I get more traffic, but you have to comment more and spend more time making your comments more interesting and catchy.

When using CommentLuv, traffic was almost doubled in just a few days and as long as I keep this up my traffics stays steady.

I’ve been seeing CommentLuv for ages and it never occurred to me to choose another link from my feed to link to vary the posts.

Anyway, I am convinced now to install the plugin.

It takes time and there are directories out there that you can use to find comluv and dofollow sites that might be in your niche.

I’m a lot more familiar with Strategy 2 as I do it a lot especially when I’m engaged in a conversation on a blog post. I don’t however do it on all blogs as some blog owners don’t really like it @ all. Personally I don’t mind it on my own site.

Strategy one is a sound idea but requires spending some extra cash which ain’t so bad if I had the means of paying for it.

      Hi Udegbunam,

Strategy 1 doesn’t have to cost anything. I haven’t a dime on it. If you have a registered account then you have access to 10 of your latest posts. All you need to do is make sure you configurated your account correctly. Of course if you have nothing in relation to the topic, then try and choose one of your links that could be important to other readers…

As for Strategy 2, I will only do this for a few comments, mostly, I do this on my site as I do not care if a reader wants to comment more than once and leave different links as long as they are adding value. As for other sites, you have to judge the site and try limited to maybe 3 – 5 or maybe as high ten but after that, I would uncheck the check box.

Okay, I understand that CommentLuv leaves two backlinks. One is in the Name field, right? But where is the second one, and how do you set it?

Do you have to put the link directly in the text of the comment?

    • Andy Bailey
      Twitter:
      29. Jul, 2010 at 8:39 am #

the second link is added at the bottom of the comment automatically if you have a feed at the site whose url you’re using in the URL field.

Andy got this before I could get to it. As Andy says its at the bottom of the comment box. such as on this site its under the Submit comment button. As long as you have a RSS feed setup and registered and you use the correct website URL and it should work.
