The pressure is building as the exams are just around the corner. To pass with flying colors you need to study smart. This article will provide you some tips to help students ease the pressure

  • Acronyms

When you have to remember a set of important words or elementary concepts, make an acronym using the first letter of each word. E.g. – 5 exam tips to lead you to success: Acronym, Study in groups, Display your work, Study memory sensitive first, Sleep = ASDSS.

  • Answer Tough Ones First

This tip is one of the best ones; Start answering your exam by answering the most ‘memory sensitive’ content first, now you have written down what you are most probable to forget. This can be content like keywords, vocabulary, formulae etc. You can refer to them whenever you want now.

  • Sleep

Although this might sound like a simple thing, students can easily get carried away with studying when exams draw close and don’t feel the time passing! However, sleeplessness can severely impair your memory and analyzing skills. So remember to get sufficient sleep; especially when exams are close.

  • Study in Groups

Join up with a set of students when you study. Cooperation is always a good thing, your work will be divided and studying would be much easier.

  • Get the Credit

Show all your workings to collect those small marks; they can really add up!

  • Mandatory Reading

Read the mandatory study material, professor’s note and prescribed textbooks. They are called mandatory because they are mandatory, you can gain a lot from them.

which I do first is to study regularly, not just before exams. I also perform as point number 1 to help remember the lesson and it was recommended by my math teacher. The best thing is to study regularly every day

I dont know if i agree with answering the tough ones first.

When i was doing my exams I would always answer the easiest ones first – progressing towards the harder ones. My main problem was getting my brain thinking so i would use the easier questions as a warmup.

If i started with the hardest ones i would just sit there for an hour in a trance. But thats just me. ;)

Study in groups can be sometimes have some disadvantages as you cannot study properly with friends rather mostly people talk about films,tv shows, music there.I prefer to study alone without any disturbance

Study groups can be power tools to improve the quality of your studying. I agree with Nipon, your study group shouldn’t include social friends, just people you can communicate with and tolerate, who are as serious as you are about succeeding.

The open forum, interactive experience can really enhance your study experience.

Thanks for bringing the issue of studying the day before the exam up, also called cramming. Cramming does not work overtime. Cramming may help you bring a test score up a little, however it will not help you retain the information.

Do not give in to the temptation to cram for a test. When I went to law school there was a student who bragged that he never did the required reading. All he did was study the sample tests in the library and he only did that on the day before the test. The last time I heard, he still had not passed the bar exam eight years after graduating from law school.

The reason we go to college is get learn, not to take tests. Get the most out of your education and study so that you retain the information and learn what you need to know to work in your field of choice.

I’m not sure if i should give this advice but i have found that i always do better in exams after having a Redbull shortly before. At least for short exams under 1.5 hours. And yes, its imperative to get enough sleep, so try not to cram all the info in your brain last minute :-)
