I made this map of IVF usage rates in the US to compliment Fertility Nation’s recently published Rankings of US states based on their IVF use.
I got so many nice comments from posting my last infographic here on comluv.com I thought I would post this one. (If you would like to publish this infographic on your blog, feel free!)
My home state of Colorado came in 13th with a IVF usage rate of 40.5 IVF procedures for every 100,000 people.
How did your state rank?
Interesting facts. Thanks for sharing!
Do you have any explanation for the difference in usage? Could the high IVF usage in California, Nevada, Utah and Colorado be due to cultural reasons?

In response to Amanda’s question part of the reason is related to health insurance. As opposed to a state like MA that requires all health insurance companies to cover ART, companies in Maine, will not even cover a basic hormone screening, let alone IUI or IVF. It comes down to money.
Hey Abbie,
Nice evaluation and research work done here by you.You make it very easy to find out IVF usage in United States.
Thank YOU and GOD BLESS

Abbie,
Thanks for the infographic. Not surprise seeing New Yorker ranking top on IVF usage out of United States. I still prefer the natural way, lol.

I suspect the reason IVF is popular in some States more than others is for several reasons not least of them being costs but I guess their could be other reasons such as Religion and the like. Interesting that New York is higher than California but that again could be the cultural thing. Very useful survey with Washington having by far the highest rate of IVF maybe the moms are just to busy to have sex and make babies the regular way or maybe it’s the Daddy’s are?
