I worked all day yesterday updating the existing Commentluv (not the one used on this site which is special and unique) to bring it up to date with the new features available in a modern Wordpress installation, namely the comments meta table which will makes things soooo much easier on my API because I can store the unique id of each commentluv request permanently with each comment.

This means my API wont have to search through the past million or so comments it has stored just to find the one it’s being told has just been spammed or deleted. Not only will it keep my server happy, it’ll mean much better stat collection and where there’s stats – there’ll be widgets! (to be announced).

Testers wanted

If you have a wordpress of 2.9.2 and above, would you mind downloading and installing it to your site? I’ve tested it on the latest nightly of Wordpress 3.0 (single) and it’s working on Mu 2.9.2 with no obvious issues but, my pc is magic and it can do things that others can’t :)

To become a tester and learn of new things before they happen (well, a minute or so after) then register for a username or subscribe to my feed or follow CommentLuv on twitter or just leave a comment here and enable the subscribe to comments checkbox

No Link?

If you’d like to try it out for your site, please leave a comment here and I’ll send it as an email attachment to the address you leave in the comment form. I don’t want to put a link up here because I always forget to update the link when the plugin gets upgraded to a new version and having an old version of commentluv on a thousand blogs is such a mess.

Ok, I have redacted that.. check the news category for the link

You speaka da lingo?

CommentLuv has been translated into a few languages already and it’s thanks to foreign language speakers who donate their time to help spread the luv to the four corners of the globe. I’ve had to edit some of the text used in the settings page so if you’re one of the translators, I’ll be contacting you when the plugin is ready for uploading to the official wordpress plugin directory.

If you speak (and can translate to) a language that hasn’t been done yet, please contact me for fame and fortune! (well, a link on the credits page and in the readme).
