Out with the old…

I’ve finally gotten around to clearing the old commentluv.com domain out and rehousing it on a new server in readiness for when the new plugin is ready for the world.

As you can see, I haven’t put anything up other than a landing page and an opt-in form for now because, well, the new plugin isn’t ready yet! You can click the image above to head on over there and enter your details to be notified of updates to the plugin and be one of the first people on the planet to try it when it’s ready.

Don’t send them away!

Once the last version of the original CommentLuv has been updated to v2.818, I will start building the next version (free 2.9) which removes the need for your users to register at comluv.com

Instead of sending your readers away to another site, you can keep them on yours and encourage them to register on your blog if they want to unlock the 10 last posts.

Of course, you don’t have to require them to register, you could just give everyone 10 posts to choose from when they comment but, if there’s one thing I’ve learned after 2+ years of running this site it’s that people want 10 posts to choose from when they comment! 40,000 of them registered here to get it so there’s a good chance that they would do it at your site too.

Google ads and Banners

Google sent me an email explaining that I could make more revenue if I followed their heatmap of the best places to put ads so I followed their advice and put some adsense above the post along with the 125×125 banners.

There’s still one 125×125 banner available as a dofollow banner. It’s visible throughout the whole site over pages from PR1 to PR6 and tend to get a decent click through rate. They’re available for a discount if bought for 90 days on the 125×125 purchase page

Go Studiopress!

Rather than pennies per day (if I’m lucky), I am going to try some affiliate ads for Studiopress. In particular, the Genesis framework which is what the site is running on using the Delicious child theme. I’ve already earned a bit of commission from clicks that turned into sales so I’m going to see if I can push that a bit more this month and see if it converts.

[edit] wooh, that little bit of commission turned into 167$ the past few days!! I’m glad they’ve moved to Shareasale!

Shareasale

The Shareasale site seems to have a lot of companies that have things to sell and are willing to give a percentage of the sale away to the people that promote them so I’ll be giving that a deeper look over the coming months. I promise I will try to keep things tasteful!
