I have always been one who when I visit a blog I find myself needing to leave a comment or make a point. I know what it is to put work into a post and then people just pass you by. After a few weeks (when new to blogging) I was seeing that the more comments I left at others blogs, the more people were coming to my blog and leaving a comment. As far as a gravatar I don’t have one, and should get one, after reading your post I didn’t realize how important other people found that using a gravatar made an impression on whether you spammed or not a comment. I think your point about learning from comments is essential and often overlooked. Most of the comment interaction I have learned the most from were the ones that allowed everyone to ask questions and anyone to answer them, so a real discussion took place. Unfortunately, such exchanges are rare. Maybe we can help that with what we learn here.
