How To Find A Good Wedding Photographer In Your Area

There are many different components to a successful wedding day. Many different things have to be set in place and much preparation is needed. There are some things that take months to plan and prepare for, while others can take place the day before, or the day of your wedding. One of the most important parts of your wedding day is making sure you have a good wedding photographer ready to capture it all. Let me give you a few quick tips on how to find the best wedding photographer in your area.

Your Area + “Wedding Photographer”

The first thing you need to do is get online and Google your location, plus a term like “wedding photographers”. For example, we live in Atlanta, Georgia, so I would Google: “Atlanta wedding photographers“. One of the things you will notice when you do this is that Google will provide you with three different types of results. You will see:

  1. The paid listings at the very top
  2. The local listing where local companies have set up their Google Places profiles
  3. The organic listings

Depending on your search history, specific location, and some other factors, you may see these in different

order. Whatever order you see them in, I would take note to all three. Each of these different types of listings will tell you something about the wedding photographers listed.

Judging A Wedding Photographer By Their Search Placements

First, the paid listings; any company can buy this space so I wouldn’t read too much into this. If you are trying to decide on how established and reputable a company is, I wouldn’t rely on paid listings to tell you that.

Second are the local listings. Local listings can tell you a lot about a company. It takes a lot of natural reviews to show up well in those spots. Not only will the reviews give you some real-life feedback on how well that company does, but companies that have a lot of reviews mean they are more established and popular.

With the organic listings, ranking in the top three positions is not easy. This ranking position is based off of a couple hundred different variables that Google sees appropriate and relevant. Knowing this is generally a good indicator that you can trust the legitimacy of the companies listed there.

When you combine all three factors you should be able to come up with a reputable wedding photographer in your area. Google is pretty good about auto-detecting your location, but if it doesn’t seem right you can change your location on the left-hand side after searching something and you will get results based on that location. If you’re in Atlanta, I do recommend Lynn Brown Photography. With these simple tips you should be able to find a great wedding photographer.
