Sure there are a lot of spammers out there but as I am observing it lately the majority of users are now just setting it up to no-follow for everyone. This plugin should not be a spam filter. I think that do-follow attribute was the key feature for this plugin to be so successful. Off course it is good to interact with other bloggers but let's face it the majority of visitors come from google and the do-follow attribute was boosting google as well, so you had a win win situation.
