You also want to know if your page load performance is still on fine tune. You can use Google Insights tool which is a great tool to know which part of your website that needs improvements, moreover if you have tons of plugins installed.

I agree with everything except for deleting akismet which is a tool used to surf out spam and can be integrated into most comment plugins you might find for instance the diqus one we use. Other must have plugins you’ve overlooked include, advertising management, contact 7 and wysija newsletter.

I agree with most of the points, but few of premium plugins are not absolutely necessary. Well for just “blogging” probably yes, but let’s not forget that WordPress is not just a blogging CMS!
